So I'm checking chain grinders and I think one of the is the winner. I believe Tecomec makes Oregon so the units should be exactly the same except for the name plate and the price. Correct Wise Ones? :salute:

Order confirmed! Free shipping, reviews to follow in a few weeks after I trash a couple of chains during the learning curve!
    :D

Thanks for the tip! Another reason to love this place!:salute:

Try 55° on head tilt, 25 chain angle, and 10 on the vise tilt. And only lower the wheel enough to sharpen with the radiused portion of the theel, not the side

Ahhhh.....you've done this before! One negative review I read was you can't, as advertised, turn the head to sharpen the other side without realigning. The reviewer claimed as much as 1 mm difference in the alignment. Any truth to that?

You have to adjust your vise for the thickness of your drive links. If you run .050 chain through it and have it set up for it, the vise is not going to be centered if you run .063 chain through it. If that user had set up his vise properly, you could swap between left and right cutters on .050 chain all day and never adjust it

I figured it was 'operator error.'

I don't put the whole lot of faith into user reviews.

Well, it's here and it's a NICE machine! It s very well made and seems to be very easy to set up and use. I'll have to do some ' creative engineering' to mount it because I don't have a work bench or wall space to mount it.

I think I can mount it to a base made if a couple of chunks of 2" ' 6" then clamp the whole thing to the the counter top.

I was going to PM you but thought your answers gould help others as well.

Out of the box, did you have to add hydraulic oil? How much and how did you get it in. The directions are a bit fuzzy on that subject.

I don't have that model. I'm familiar with it though, as a bunch of guys on ope got them.
I have heard they need a little hydraulic oil. Aw32, ATF, or power steering fluid would suffice

Do you have a bench vise? I mounted mine to a 2x6 about 16" long. I lock the 2x6 in the vise when I need it and hang it up out of the way when not in use

No, but I do have some counter space and plan to mount it about the same way as you did then C clamp it to the counter. Probably try it sometime this weekend.

That'll do too. I mounted mine with the board vertically where you'll be mounting yours on the bottom of it and clamping it down. It'll be perfect. I would think maybe a 12 by 12 sheet of three-quarter inch plywood would suffice
