If the tree guy is going to cut up the logs, be very very specific about length or you will end up with stuff from 6" in length to 30" in length and not a straight cut to be found.
That’s a big tree with lots of canopy in one tight spot. I’d definately pay someone to drag those branches to a chipper LOL
Always such a shame to have to take those beauties down but sometimes it is necessary. Good luck and enjoy the firewood!
Hate to lose the shade but those are heavy branches to be coming down on houses. Plant something that doesn't get quite so big. I've gotten 3+ cords out of a tree 31 inches dbh that wasn't rotten in the center that pretty big branches were chipped. Good luck with that one. Ended up paying about $250 cord for that firewood.
Shame it has to come down, looks pretty healthy. I am sure on LI you get some pretty good winds. Have to give the tree credit for surviving this long, but all it can take is one storm to have that cause some serious damage. Will they be using a crane or hand climb it. Looks like you are going to have a bunch of wood coming out of it.
this is a shed hit by a 30" oak downed by tornado last May. It will give you some piece of mind (and firewood of course) when its very windy!
I agree, I can’t stand watching this beast sway back and forth during high winds any, ore. I need to sleep. Lol
Looks like a very professional job, but what do I know? Solid right down to the base, no ants! And this pic is jawdropping!
Just realized how cool that pic was. Yes, solid all the way excet for a very small area that had a bit of rot the size of a baseball and that was it
Nice work done by a pro crew. I love cutting me some wood, but the climbers are a "unique" bunch. Yes Scotty Overkill I'm thinkin of you and blacksmith You two work great together, which is necessary. Truly enjoyed watching you guys work at walt 's Looking forward to seeing you guys again.
