I love the way it burns. Starts right up. Microwave hot. Awesome lava red coals. Staying power. Nice scent. Easy sizes. The only knock is the volume of ash. But so what?

It has that Christmas paper wrapping for bark... which I like to handle. Not a lot of bugs and zero mess.

I own a Hearthstone Homestead. Between the two, I can keep heating costs down. We never use electric and gas/oil are neither an option nor available.

We are both, we were 100% wood with 2 stoves, replaced one with the pellet stove and it spoiles us :), so 95% pellet now, only use the remaining wood stove in bitter cold temps or power outages.

Our pellet stove is the work horse. We bought the wood stove originally for back up but we put it upstairs where we spend most of our time. It turns out it's been saving us on the pellets as we almost exclusively burn wood during the shoulder season. I love having the option. For example, my next door neighbor downed two huge Douglas Fir and I got most of it. Free heat is better than pellet heat. But I needed dry wood to finish out the season... thus the cherry.
