Professional Tree trimmers/loggers, how much is this going to cost?

    Nah, that was pure negligence.
There is no gray area in felling.

The guy cutting said he had a strap, (not sure what he meant) around the tree and released it a few minutes too early.

I'd be interested in seeing the crack in the basement wall. I wonder if it is possible to crack the footer. If it's cracked I'd bet that's what they do. A few neighbors said they felt a shake when it hit. Makes sense with it hitting the brick wall, thus transmitting energy to the foundation.

Sure does, the fence is open in the direction of the red arrow. It fell in the direction of the green.

Her insurance should be talking to the tree company's insurance. Also, if she has a loan, it might be good to inform the bank as they have a lot invested to ensure the house is fixed correctly.

A lawyer is not a bad idea, and maybe even an independent adjusters report on what needs to be done.

The stump looks sound in that pic.
I'd be curious to see a view standing over the stump.
A lot can be told from the cuts made

Turning the ignition switch on a D-4 or 320 Cat Excavator will probably be the best bet...................................

Glad no one was injured and people are stepping up to do what is right!

Never delt with this before but rough numbers from where I’m at minimum prices for the known damage.
Excavation to inspect foundation and repair cracked wall 15-30k
    Two Brick walls rebuild 20-25k
    New roof 20-25k
Interior work 15k most likely 50-75k
~80k minimum most likely 2-3x that.

Now that’s just the individual cost the biggest factor is can’t safely work in it without repairing the roof and shouldn’t fix roof without fixing the foundation first!

I’d say if the house is not worth 350k plus zero chance insurance will repair it!
