me- I'm so tired of arguing with you, fine..... do what you want, get it done and go to bed. moron.
.. a small glimpse into my inner dialogue. Since no one in their right mind is awake right now I thought I'd take a break and humor myself. :loco: :rofl:

Luckily, last big project on my plate for the time being, may get to sleep in on Sunday. Ohhh yeah.. ;)

    Thanks!

Our new place is on a private road. My neighbor on one side is "the old guy at the end of the road", he had been taking care of the road for years but apparently decided to become a snowbird...so the torch has been passed and I'm the new "old guy at the end of the road". My neighbor on the other side plows the road with his truck but big banks on either side and culverts plugged with ice was causing ice buildup, then with freeze/thaws this spring was making ruts in the ice...our little commuter cars with little ground clearance were bottoming out, I was able to rip it up with a box blade and scoop it up with the loader, will likely add a snowblower befor next winter.

    That blower will be nice.

Why won't the county plow/maintain it? There are private roads around here that the county keeps plowed and will even grade occasionally. May have something to do with access for fire protection?

My advice to you is bite the $$$ bullet and get a front- mounted blower vs. back up blower. Your back and neck will thank you for it. Don't ask me how I know......

Without any question! There is a reason why those hydraulic fittings/connections are on the front end of the tractors now!

I do not have a tractor (yet) but man! Having to turn around and snowblow and sit sidesaddle while you're doing it...…. my neck is hurting now just thinking about it!

They don't take care of private roads around here. In order to pass it to the town you have to get it up to a certain class of road, have it approved by the road agent, then get the road accepted as a town road at a town meeting. If you want a maintained road, build on a town road, otherwise the taxpayers aren't supporting it until they get access too (which I fully agree with). Insurance costs take into account if you are on a public or private road too.

Sitting here at the computer station in the workshop in the basement with the temp reading 59..... it's time for a fire in the kicker stove!

With the sunny warmer days, the main level of the house is warm enough with the furnace running less and solar gain from the windows, but the basement has that tendency to get cool and stay that way. When 99 wakes up, she'll have a warm fire, coffee and card table set up by the stove for a couple hands of cards before our days start!

Its complicated and I'm not sure I have the whole story, but my understanding is that the subdivision developer skipped town before finishing the last bit of road road to town standards so the town won't own or maintain it...been that way for years and I knew it when I bought the land, I need to talk to my snowbird neighbor when he comes back as he has apparently been talking to the town about the situation. The town apparently did not persue the developer to finish the project according to the plan that he submitted and they approved...so in my eyes it should be up to the town to finish the road, take ownership and maintain it.

    That's the plan.:)

Beautiful day out. Double checked my other job before 8, enough time now to eat a good cooked meal before I work 12-9. Should be home by 11. Then early rise for a day of landscaping tomorrow before a 5-9 evening shift

When I lived in Maine I loved on a similar "road" that was maintained by the couple of residences that lived on it. It was an odd thing for me, but we adapted.
