The pellet stove is noisy, love the heat but not the noise. The home-theater-in-a-box does not get loud enough, has several speakers but they are all wired and on the other side of the room. I'd love to have tv at normal levels instead of blasting the house like we have to do now to hear over the pellet stove, hoping for an extra speaker in two other corners of the living room. I see wireless speakers on sale often but not sure how they work. We aren't connecting internet or Ipods or cell phones if that matters. Current set up: TV Directv box Sony receiver w DVD and speakers can I plug something into the back here for sound in the two corners? It's really confusing, I cannot even discern if a new system has wireless or wired speakers, I chatted with Bestbuy and Newegg, and they could not either. I have two Bose speakers circa mid 1990's, toying with running speaker wire up through the attic then down by two different corners except this receiver does not have speaker wire inputs. I'd be thrilled with any input ( rofl:  pun intended)!
We have our TV connected to our stereo receiver. To hook it up, we have a digital to analog converter, in between the TV and the stereo. Works great.
WW, I am not versed in wireless speakers, but Best Buy and Newegg are useless these days. Try calling Crutchfield although I dont think it will be cheap. It looks like your Sony receiver can be set up wireless if you get the attachments? You would need the ezw-rt10 to plug into the back of the receiver-find used on ebay? sony ezw-rt10 - Google Search And also some amplifiers that would be placed at the speakers. ta-sa100wr surround amplifier You might need a few of those? Again maybe used? SONY WAHT-SA10 Operating Instructions Manual (Page 4 of 18) How well these might work, I really couldn't say
Hi There ! Thanks Bumpah, going googling ! We'll be in this house for another year til other things get figured out, blasting the tv over the pellet stove fans so I can hear it by the desk and WWW can hear it at the counter and vice verse is annoying. Tired of trying to talk over it, how stupid we put up with it for a few years now. Just not worth the stress. IDK, would be easier for me limited tech knowledge to get the retired receiver now garage radio out of the garage and run speaker wires through the attic.
Hi G, thank you, I just got off chat with Sony, the black friday deal I bought in 2011/2012 ish has one kit with it. Had it my mind it only does background sounds, like horses in the distance galloping towards the filming but we just hooked it back up again and I could hear the national news just fine. Sony chat said my reciever will indeed run two of those units at once, off to Ebay. Thanks A Bunch G!! Must have been the western movie we were watching after we moved everything to this new home, then not yet settled (will never be lol ) and did not hook it up again til now.
Glad its going in the right direction. So they say its the rear surrounds and possible back surrounds that are wireless. Makes sense in a way as the front three (l/C/R) should be able to be placed near the TV and be wired to the nearby receiver-thus its only surround effects you hear in the back speakers What model receiver is it? You may be able to change a setting that gives you voice to all speakers as that generally comes from the center speaker.
Hi G, I'll take a look at the manual. BDV-HZ970W https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4187/41873021M.pdf
Hmmm, quick look at the manual. I would try the different surround modes to get the best sound you are looking for but I think Omni-dir MIGHT give you the same sound from all speakers including the back speakers. If this is the case, it may be what you are trying to achieve but it would be at the cost of surround sound.
Hi I am running a top of the line Marantz Home theatre on a WoodWave floating TV stand in my workshop with 2 active 100 watt 10” subs and 2 Passive 12” subs with a 500 watt LFE kicker for a total of 1700 watts. The center channel is a Cambridge Soundworks but the 8 Satellites are Dual Elecronics indoor/outdoor LU53PW-3 and the absolute best bang for the buck at only $38 bucko’s apiece when buying in quantity! I put all the wires, recessed jacks and cross studs for mounting in before the Sheetrock see pics below https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dual-LU5...MI96HehIGZ4QIVl4vICh2mBgPgEAQYAiABEgJtffD_BwE
I apologize, I wrote about buying used parts off ebay, and apparently did not actually post it. Wireless S-Air receiver bought it, plugged a speaker from our set into it and it works Extra speakers got here today, they look great, no cords ETA, found cords at Amazon, silly to pay $13 for cords But, they are on their way. Also gbreda , notice the slide button on the top left? That explains the thunder and galloping horses in the "surround background" on our original set up at old house vs changing both wireless ones here to only "surround". Thank you
The surround and surround back are both still for surround sound: the galloping horses and thunder coming from the back but for different locations and amount of speakers. Yes, some have 7 speakers around them. Some now have 2 or 4 in the ceiling for real 3d overhead sounds (Atmos sound mode). Its suppose to be amazing when done right. And also very spendy If its working the way you want it, keep it that way as its intended to be all around you with different sounds coming from different directions. If you are still looking for things like voice from the news in the back of the room, then try the Omni-Dir mode on your remote. Hopefully you have the remote. If your do, keep changing the Sound Mode button until you get the sound you want. Feel free to change it according to whatever you are watching. Thats what its there for. Surround for movies, Omni for news, music for (well music ) etc......... Or find what works for all, leave it there and enjoy.
Hi I have Atmos on the Marantz in the workshop and a blue ray Atmos player with a USB input. Then I downloaded Atmos test files from the web to a thumb drive. So for the 7.2.2 setup in the shop I have to speakers mounted on the ceiling. Wireless speakers can be expensive so we layed the wires and banana jacks in next to 2x4 cross studs to mount the speakers on before the drywall went up. One way to do it. The light bulbs in the work shop are the Phillips Hue bulbs with 16 Million Colors to choose from to create the right mood. See Atmos speakers in pic with bulbs set to blue & red
Thanks, I have the Marantz plugged into the Comcast router so I can get all the Internet Radio Stations clear as a bell all over the world. I like Irish Pub Radio and the iHeart Radio where you can create your own Radio Stations. So I created a Donna Summer & Amy Winehouse Stations for That gendre! Pretty cool?
