I had a little time yesterday to cut wood in the honey hole. I took the tractor in Sunday and shouldn't have so I'm only going in with the 4 wheeler until it drys. I located a pile of beech tops and I'm still looking for fireplace wood for my son so I decided to go for it.
Hopefully it'll be dry enough to get next week when my grandsons are out of school for spring break. When one of them say "Grandpa, I want to go to the beach" I'll say fine and take him to the beech and get some help loading. 20190318_133041.jpg

I want to add that I was using a little 180 and that thing is sweet in tops that size. I picked it up in a bundle with a 039 that I flipped for 5 times what I paid for both saws. I put a China carb on it and I'm amazed how well it cuts.

I have a 290 and a 460. Put a China carb on the 460 and recently had it in the shop. Minor issue with carb and luckily i had saved original carb. He just tuned up the old carb and i was go to go. Im considering a good used MS260 at a local pawn shop, but would rather get a 261 new.

the 180 carb has no adjustment and I ran it thru the ultrasonic cleaner and put a kit in it but it didnt help. I've had a 260 and a 261 and like the 261 better . If you get a 260 if it doesn't have a high and low carb adjustment put put one on it, helps a lot.

My parents bought an MS 211 a couple years ago and I was surprised by it as well. Having a nice light saw for limbing and tops is great.

That looks like a nice score. Beech is great firewood. It smells a bit like vanilla. Suck a great smell.

20190319_144707.jpg The beech pile got a little larger today and some pignut added. Looks like somewhere over a face cord to 1/2 cord.
