I like the first one. The rest, are not so great especially the second one. That thing is a 911 call waiting to happen.
The 1st one doesn't look too bad, I think it could be made reasonably safe with a little more thought. But DANG that 2nd one I guess you have to be smarter than me to figure out how to use that one safely!
The problem is if you are dumber. Then you end up not being able to count to ten any more. The only way to make the second one safe is to never turn it on.
I know of a guy that was drunk and splitting wood with a maul. He hit a piece that was hard and the maul bounced back and knock out two of his front teeth. Does that qualify as a dangerous splitter?
Swinging a maul is not the safest way to split wood. Probably hydraulics are safer with a skilled user. Any method used while drunk is dangerous.
The first one was ok other than it would never split Elm or such. # 2 = death trap. #3 was cool for the old FB engine, but looked a bit dangerous. # 4 I can see no purpose to unless he was trying to build a chipper?
Yes, the "splitter" was a danger to himself. Kinda reminds me of the guy that basod took as his avatar. "You are strong wood, but I am man, and am stronger." or some such nonsense. That one and the very valuable black walnut tree are my favorites.
Basod's "inspiration".. more no-so-joke videos Black walnut.. https://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/bookmarks/7550/view After rewatching both of those.. man says.. "I am weak, you are strong. But I am man and have tools." Yep he's a tool.. err I meant has tools
I saw this elsewhere last week. I dont see what the big fuss is about with that second splitter! As for PPE, I think those were steel toed crocs he was wearing
