Just like pallets were made to be used quickly with hydraulics, if I had to take lots and lots of them apart, you sure could come up with a cool pallet "jaws of new life" to pull them apart instantly… then, re-use the wood… be kinda fun makin' them explode.
This guy is smart enough to figure out force x area means less broken boards and lifting with your legs results in fewer injuries, but hasn't figured out a sledgehammer would be faster, safer, and easier on his back? All this time he spent thinking about this problem and tearing that pallet apart, he could have mowed the lawn, and the neighbors lawn, and had enough money to buy more lumber than the pallet yielded. "Think, it's not illegal yet."
The easiest way is simply lay a 2*4 the same direction as the slats put another through the crack and under the slat then push down. The come off fast and like butter.....
The voice of experience I'm sure! Anybody who built an entire fence from pallets has to have taken a few apart...
Hes city folk...those new metro sexual city type guys that have no tools so he has to drop cement blocks on something instead of a sledge of any size or a maul. A framing hammer would help too.
I cut up pallets for wood. I tear into them with a chainsaw and then tear them apart. The nails come out of the stove with the ash scoop. Never built anything with pallet wood.
If you have that much free time to take a pallet apart you must be getting free cheese from the gubermit...
