I just bought a 'walk the plank' trap set of 2. It's been too cold, the water freezes then the little blighters spend the night ice skating and not drowning. Ahhhhh..spring is in the air.

Just a couple drops of antifreeze in the bucket and you are good to go all winter. Keep a dipper handy and just dip the mouse out so you don't have to change the water each time.

I'm not sure this is the issue but I am starting to think those are only good to catch 2-3 mice before they need to be tossed out. I have some used traps that can't seem to catch anything anymore. I saw a mouse dragging one across the garage last month!
I almost drowned when I was a kid and, for me, I cant bring myself to use a water trap. I am more than happy to snap thier little spines to keep them away from the jeep wiring harness!

I use 'em until the little wire staples won't stay in the wooden base anymore. Almost as gooder as the energizer bunny....they jut keep on workin'.

Bucket traps! The only way to go.
Once you have a mouse get killed in your truck defroster blower under the dash, during a hot summer , you lose all sympathy for the little guys. I’ve had them drag a trap into the wall framing and that doesn’t smell good either.

I have some of those traps. Look up inside the plastic part where the trigger
wire goes. There are two "levels". You put the trigger on the left and it slids
off to the right and snaps. If you put it the right, it takes much more
    pressure to trigger it.

    Don't be insulting.….

The same thing was happening to me and my
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot attitude kicked in......

...and as I think Yogi Berra once said,
"you can see many things by observing."
    ….or something like that.
