One of the old schools in town that were sold off is finally getting something done with it. Guess it's gonna be apartments or the like, not much else you can re-purpose such a building for unless there's more parking. The brownish one still awaits, hopefully something will be done soon. That one might be a tear down and start over job.

Also spotted a couple clean old fords.

I took the direct TV dish off of the roof this am before work. It's out of the way for the roofers now. They are tearing off 2 layers of shingles and putting a new shingle roof on this week.
    20190318_071241.jpg

When I get home I'll attempt to rig it up on the pallet on the table to see if I can get it aimed to receive signal.

Back in the day, dtv sold the kits and you could self install them. I did a couple of installs over the years. Now dtv wants to do it themselves as they determined that improperly aimed dishes don't receive great signal. Who'd have guessed?? Lol

It will be 50° this week.

How does this look to you? I've only roofed in warmer weather.

Wind is light all week. No higher than 13 mph

That ought to work...do both (all) sides of the roof get sun?

When we had DTV the experts were out at least 4 times and every guy moved the dish to a "better location", trying to fix a cuts out every time it rains problem.
I finally got fed up and moved it under the eave where all the experts said it wouldn't work and the cuts-out-when-it-rains problem went away. Yeah, I lost local channels in the Summer.
I have two dishes tossed in the garage and 1 still on the side of the house. They wanted the receivers back every time they wanted to try a new receiver but not the dishes.

Yeah I assume they'll only want the receivers and the controllers back. Good news is that I can simply take them into the local att store now that att owns them.

I set up ours on the house when Dish Network first came out. Worked fine for many years until they replaced it with a dual receiver dish. They gave you a compass and the TV would beep loudly when you locked on to a strong signal.

This one's not so simple. I'll give it another try tomorrow, maybe.
    20190318_184530.jpg

It's mounted, and while it's pointing in the approximate direction it was when it was on the roof, I'm getting nothing.

You need to hit 3 satellites for the HD slimline dishes to work.

I guess now you have to get the tech to set it up properly. Fortunately, it’ll only be temporary.

    That doesn't sound like fun.

We leave saturday at butt am for vacation and we get cable with high speed internet on the day after we get back.

I'm not paying for a tech to come out. I have the cable guy coming over the day after we get back from vacation to set up the new serve that will have a way faster internet. 200 Mbps vs 3 Mbps on the dsl we have now.

Well be saving $50 a month and missing out on nothing that dtv has. We'll only be getting more channels to go with the better internet.

Eventually I'll be cutting the cable too, and just having the high speed internet, and going to streaming tv. Streaming isn't a possibility with the super low speed internet we have currently. So this is a good step.

9.55 for cans today. Better part of a quarter tank.....

Got given 2 extra full shifts, 1-9 today and 12-9 Friday. Still have Saturday off as of now and it's supposed to be warm and rainy, think I'll go home Friday night. Try not to forget my bucksaw and axe I got for Christmas, looking forward to trying them out. If the ground is soft enough, and that might still be a big if, I'll pull some bush roots.

Egg boxes are the perfect size for putting in the big trash bags so I can slip the roots out with the regular trash.

Not home right now. The person in the room before us had the alarm set for 6:00 am. All good as curling is on and the breakfast room is open. Get to see the grandkids tonight. Perfect weather to be traveling.
