I just finished an awesome Corned beef and cabbage dinner Kerry Farwood made. Who else partaked?
We put vinegar on our cabbage when we eat it, anyone else do that?
I didn’t take any pics because I have a flu bug and I’m keeping a low profile.

We had some for dinner and washed it down with a Guinness. There will be a boiled dinner for lunch at work tomorrow. I use vinegar as well.

I usually do, but held off this year....

Fire Flake doesn’t like CB & C, so it’s too much for me to pick on all week (with stomach issues and all).

    No vinegar tho.

Not a big cabbage fan, unless you let it rot/ferment a bit (sauerkraut).

But, do like me some corned beef.

Not from my understanding, shred lettuce, place in container, add salt, let sit for about 8 months

Rinse, pack(can) or eat as desired.

My wife let’s her sit 4-6 weeks before she checks it. Sometimes she has to sit a week or so more. These are small batches.

    None to be had here.

I may observe the "holiday" with a glass of scotch tonight though. Close enough!

I've made it before and it turned out fine, but not "sharp " enough for me. How would you rate your wifes? Any tricks to getting sour sour sour blow your hair back sauerkraut?

Ok, as i remember it. He had the clay crockpot. He had a shredder that laid over the top. Shred the cabbage (he had me help do a lot of it) . Once that was done he probably put the salt on. He would them take it to the basement where he had this big flat rock he would put directly on top of the cabbage. From there I can't say what he did. Those memories where from like 55 yrs ago.

    Had it last week.
Didn't turn out to be the greatest cut of meat. Cooked a couple more times for leftovers all week and it was a little better.
Cole slaw I like. Sauerkraut - No.

It's also supposed to help make toilet time quick, oddly satisfying and richly rewarding.

I'll try that next time I make a batch.
