that sums up my day. My favorite firewood assistants are coming in the morning, so I decided to cut up some scouted blowdowns for cutting. Near the end of the day, I got a text asking if I was okay. My phone somehow made a FaceTime call to them from our group text message thread. She couldn’t tell if I was running a chainsaw or had a digestive problem. The little Stihl was cutting away today but the husky decided not to start. I could never master cranking a saw while keeping the throttle wide open to de flood them. I used a zip tie to keep it open, and after about six pulls, it was back in business. Decided to throw a few in my cutter’s toolbox to do the fix in the woods next time. In one area, I cut a ten inch by forty foot sugar maple, and a 8 inch sassafras log Within eyesight of it. Jumped over to another maple about 50 feet long and made short work of it. After the Husky was running I was off to another area to see what there might be. I have mentioned before that I love to find dropped trees which split, saving me some splitting work. Looks like the Feller for the logging company had a surprise when he dropped this one and hit hit another tree and split in two! Their loss is my gain.i suspect the guy just looke at this a while and said “well crap , “
After cutting it, within a few steps were oak and maple tree tops of good cutting size, so I just began the slaughter. Lots of rounds for the girls to split tomorrow. My neighbor is joining once again. I mention FHC to him. He would be a good contributor. He builds a lot of his haulers and things.
As I was headed back to the mansion, I saw a blow down from the wind storm two days ago. I don’t have anything for scale, but I had to “rock climb “ up the stump to get atop the tree. There is enough width on the trunk to dance a jig. That will provide a good portion of a burning season itself. Working toward my three year supply,
not exactly what i was thinking either...butt... i have been known to butt dial people...'cept i carry my fone in my front pocket... . . . . ....now there's a thought you just can't unthink!
EYE catching title! . You must work for the press! Always nice when mother nature does the splitting for you...especially on big trees. The last tree will keep you busy for a while. Nice find! Last year i butt dialed...with a flip phone!!! I never keep it in my back pocket either. Still cant figure out how i did it!
did you have any coins in your pocket ? last fall i pocket dialed the neighbor a half dozen times while running the saw. i must hold the saw against my leg a lot... lol
i keep coins in my front pocket and it may have been the only time ive put the phone in my ,back pocket! It was while i was driving too!
I don’t think so. It was in my front pocket. Funny thing is, I guess FaceTime also is recorded on the picture file. I now know what a chainsaw sounds like inside my pants!
Never a danger of that dialing here. l Where I scrounge wood has no signal. Sometimes I call when I am back on the blacktop...if there is a signal....just to let her know I'm out of the woods. Nice amount of wood there, Sourwood
The comedy continued today. With the girls help, we pulled a hydraulic hose of the splitter pump, so they learned about radiator hose clamps and what hydraulic fluid is all about. Then they managed to dump the splitter on its side, bending the hitch. My big dream of using the Bannon trailer behind the Terrapro wasn’t too hot. Had to get a good run on any slope to haul wood to the wood yard. My neighbor with his home built wood trailer bent an axle. We still managed to get the hints done. Now the girls are inside running the vacuum and a carpet cleaner. An hour of billiards and we will call it a day.
