Cherry trees any good for firewood? Tree is on my property that I bought about 6 months ago and is on its way out. Half the tree didn't leaf last year, the half that is leaning towards my house
I was also gonna say cherry, maybe "white cherry" or "choke cherry" to be exact? Almost has a birch-like bark. We have a lot of these in my area and I have a huge one in my hard that I would take down but my wife and I do really like when it blooms in the spring. One thing I've learned with this wood is that it dries fast, in about a year, but the bark sucks and holds a lot of moisture in. And I mean a lot! Either remove it or let it season for 2-3 years.
Welcome to the forum NBNH. Definitely cherry as others have said. I have one just like it in my yard as well. I’m also in CT. What part of the state are you in? I’m just south of Hartford. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
