We finally had a fire this morning, burning dead something, maybe Elm. We'll burn this whole stack (.61 of a cord) then it's what we have left of last years shoulder season wood, maybe a NY facecord of Hemlock.

With what people are getting down south, I won't ever complain again about cold weather, god bless them.

Good point woodlands. We are very fortunate we do not get the weather some folks get. This is a good part of the country to live in when it comes to bad storms. No tornadoes, no Hurricanes, no Earth Quakes (to speak of) here. A bunch of us got lucky that the Micro Burst years ago did not hit our homes. Man that flattened a lot of trees. If that had hit a densely populated area that year it would have been bad news. The worse we have had in many years was that Ice Storm of 98. Hope we don't get another one that bad for a long time. It seems like we get ice more frequently than when I was young. But maybe it just seems that way. ?

Weather network says we're 45, feels like 39, but I don't believe it. Temp never went over 44 up til 6 PM today. Chilly, soggy, ugly. Rain til 8 AM tomorrow, then Fri AM, then Sat and Sun. I'm going to go out and stick the peas in the ground as soon as the rain stops tomorrow. Should be wet enough to get them swollen, then hopefully a few drier days next week so they won't rot. If not, I'll just replant. Worth trying to gain a week. Nothing beats fresh peas. And it's to darn wet here now to do anything in the woods. I have puddles all over my yard: a really rare occurrence.

45 this morning. Letting the oil burner get some exercise. :zip: Everything is soaked. Going to take a while for this to dry out.

Right where I want to be.
Rained on and off most of yesterday, last night, and now there's a steady light rain.
I had planned to get in the woods today, but I guess that's not happenin'. Maybe.
Got a small fire going. Should be enough for the day.
We're at about 40 or so right now.

Thankfully I still have plenty of dry wood left. I think I will burn through May and part of June for the little heat demand and DHW. I need to buy my splitter soon and then get all of next years wood split and stacked in the next few weeks. Luckily it is all Ash and Pine. I will start out next season with some dry stuff I still have now. Then move to some Ash split this month. Then Ash and Pine. I think I will split the pine slightly smaller to be sure it dries well.

A chilly 39 early this morning. The Peerless oil boiler is running smooth. Giving the Gun a rest for a few days. Then a real good cleaning, maybe tonight, and fire it back up.

After coming in off the hill earlier all soaked I started up a fire with some dead elm, it's still rain pretty good so I tossed in a few more splits.

Friday and Saturday we have a chit load of rain coming in from the weather report I saw tonight.

We have some better weather starting tomorrow through Wednesday maybe even Thursday. I decided that I'll cut in the rain, but only if it's safe.
