Knocked out these three pallets today. Gotta stack all my wood from the windstorm then I can go back and start cutting some more of this stuff. Still a lot left.
I have no idea? I just started hoarding white pine last year when I came into a massive score. Ive never burned it before but I have 21 pallets stacked with it and more to come
That's a great looking stack, beechnut. I bet that Pine will be ready for the coming season. Once I can get the splitter over to the wood, I'm going to start with the pine here. I've got enough hardwood put up for next year, and probably most of the next, but the pine supply needs refreshing. If I do it right should be nice and dry by fall.
I get a ton of sparks up the chimney from pine, although my chimney is clean. I have an open draft wood furnace, not the latest and greatest air tight wood stoves. Do the sparks bother you and what burn times do you get per load? A 8 inch round is gone in about 20 minutes in My stove. Good hoard, and I am glad it works for you!
I've never burned pine before. I came into a massive score last year that I'm still working on. I'm still a little nervous about burning it but everyone assures me it's fine. If I don't like the way it burns I'll just sell it as campfire wood to the tourists over the summer months.
Smells so good. Not sticky at all. Still semi frozen. I hand split it with the fiskars and it popped real easy.
I worked on my recent score for 4 hours this afternoon. Three of it splitting. Back hurts as too...heating pad feels good right now!
Woodsnwoods 3 cu Ft Woodstock stove loaded with pine.. I get 8 to 10 hours and enough coals to relight.. Not many BTU per hour.. Good for 40 and damp day.
Pine is good for starting fires from coals, for shoulder season, for campfires and for making maple syrup. I wouldn't depend on it in the depths of winter unless you have time to kill, sitting by the fire and feeding it every hour.
Being new here would someone define “shoulder season”? I’m guessing it’s that time of year when it’s not quite spring or in the fall when a fire is nice but maybe not really necessary.
You are exactly right. I had never heard the term either til i joined a month ago. You will learn a lot on here!
Already learned a lot. And have gotten excited about putting up wood. I’ve always enjoyed it but now I’m excited about it. I get to do plenty as we heat the shop where I work, and my home is probably 95% heated with wood. And after watching & helping my coworker is planning to go with wood heat next year. Gonna be a lot of work to get 3 locations into a 3year plan. But I get to do a lot of it on the clock at work
