Or get a 90cc+ to eat up the bug 'uns. Hmm, 30, 50, 70, 90 -- That might hold me over for Stihl. Then I need to do the 40, 60, 80, 100 in Husqvarna.
Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. To answer a few questions. What I found out about the 562XP is it's a hot rod. Really more of a rally car type, fast and nimble. My reason for a 40/50/60 plan has several factors. I'm small in stature, with shoulder issues. So weight is a consideration. Keeping everything under 13# dry weight makes sense to me. Also, I have been jonesin for a ported saw, so I think the 562XP will be close to a 70cc in feel once that is done. All without the weight of a 70cc saw. I may also widen my range a bit later down the line by replacing the MS250 with a good 30cc saw. However even though it is only a home owner saw I have grown fond of the MS250. Feeding the Hardy has not been that bad. Even with our unusually cold winter I only burnt about 9 rick. I cut everything to 22-24" in length, and I am not picky when it comes to diameter. So there you have it. I'm happy to be here as everyone seems like good folks. A big thanks to Dex for helping with a sign up issue.
I liked the MS250 too. The design is showing its age a bit these days but there are a ton of them out there cutting a lot of wood and it was hands down the most saw $300 would buy.
I really like my Husky. I opted for the 555 and haven't looked back. Its a 60cc saw with plenty of guts but a little more kind to the pocket book. Its weight is on par for longer work and will eat most anything I give it. There's my opinion.
Unfortunately no. I tried my hand at home-brewing once (got a Mr. Beer kit from my wife as an anniversary gift), but I decided that I would leave it to the pros for two reasons; theirs was better, and for me to do it the ratio of effort to number of drinks was too skewed!
My version of the ultimate stihl lineup: ms200, 026, 044 and 066. (Working on filling the gaps with huskies)
I sure as hell wouldn't pay more than a $100 for a chainsaw I paid a total of $257 for those 4. And they all run... Though the 044 needs some tlc.
About a year. I've had a few other deals on some nice saws that I sold (it's hard to justify more than 3 saws but I have a hard time letting any of the stihls go) I'm not that good.
