Well you take the good with the BAD and today was a bad day. After demoing nearly 70% of the first level and the second level(removing 130-160 yards of materials a day) with the sprinklers active we have not had a single incident, until today... We were moving sprinkler lines out of the way so that we could demo existing areas for the new Pop Ups which house massive cylindrical tanks that mix and make ingredients for the cure we are building the manufacturing plant for.

We had planned everything to the T with the draining of systems and had the company that will be working with us for the new and changing of the existing sprinkler systems out today, in preparation we had the facilities and the Owner shut down whatever mains that fed the systems we were working on. Well they were working off the existing drawings shutting and draining the systems but there had been changes since the original drawings had been submitted and the as-builts were wrong. When our sprinkler fitters released the first fitting the water came and it came like I have never seen before and this was up on the Mezzanine level above the first level which house existing manufacturing facilities and live Labs.
It was a 1" branch line that tapped directly into a 6" main with maybe 25' of run as mentioned I have never seen water flow from a sprinkler as I saw today .

So what do you do when something like this happens well you try to contain the water and keep it away from the facilities that are operating , we took buggies (retangle plastic buggies used for removing demolished materials from the site) and pushed them under the pipe one after another until they could shut the main off which took about 25 minutes. We were running out of buggies as we had 40+ buggies filled with water before they shut them off and needless to say I got soaked. The good news the water never made it to any operating facilities and the owner admitted to it being their fault as it happened to be a great employee whom made the mistake and owned up to it.

We emptied the building not once but twice as when the livened up the system for a certain main where the work was completed and they did not impair the flows which triggered the alarm again . Not a small matter in such a facility and being selfish I will say my crews at around a 100 had to be evacuated as well.

So I am sipping some Willet Bourbon washing away the day for now and will give it hell again tomorrow, and am hopeful it will be a better day .

Edit: Silly me forgot to mention the most important thing is Nobody was hurt ! So there is always something to be thankful for.

    Hope all are well.

Had to put one of the cats down this morning. Our favorite, the blind one. Gutted my wife. Can’t say I’m doing much better.

So sorry for your loss. It is never easy losing a pet, especially a "favorite". I find that each time, that particular one was the favorite (and the best).

That is one tough day. Everything planned well, and the plan came nowhere close to coming together. Hope tomorrow brings better things on that job!

Earl sorry to read about your cat passing. We are pet lovers too, it’s always so painful when you lose one. Like losing a family member. Try to think of all the good happy times, and know the pet lived the best possible life with you.

Open carry state here, concealed carry for outdoor activities,no permit needed, except if in town. But,being colder climate, most people have a jacket on,lots of the year, which makes CWP kinda necessary. And lots of other states reciprocity, nowadays.

Kathryn says to me last week she'd like to go to Mohegan Sun to the RV show. I'm thinking "that's how it starts" the itch to get a new rig. Anyway, was good for me to walk a lot and watch all those people give their money to the house. had a nice lunch, ran into a couple of friends, didn't see a thing that interested us at the show.
Didn't stop Kathryn..... she found a perfect replacement for our 5 year old rig...now we have to go look at it! happy wife - happy life! At 32 feet its 2 feet longer and 2000 lbs heavier. three slides vs two. about the only thing I can say is that i'll be glad to be rid of the SwinTech slide drives. they keep failing and there is no hand crank to get yourself out of trouble. We were stuck with the main slide out at a campground, and again another time with it stuck in.

sooo…..old bumper pull as a trade + :makeitrain":makeitrain":makeitrain" Can't take it with you I guess!

Feeling way better now with a couple new veins in the heart. getting back to my old self but I need to learn to slow it up a little.

going to transfer my interest in my business's to my son and work part time. life goes on.

Amen to that artc ! Still learning that, 25 years later here.

Life is too short, and you really can't take it with you.. So glad to read you're on the mend and doing well! Take good care there artc . Slow & steady wins the race!

Greetings all, been a very busy couple of weeks here: between overnight work on weekends / sn*w storms each weekend, I've been "burnt toast" each Monday morning. Having to move copious amounts of white chit for work & home has been quite the workout.. Getting back into "swim suite" shape for the Summer though! :picard::rofl:

Still burning pellets here like their going out of style - and looking forward to warmer weather. Not looking forward to mud season though - lot's of sn*w pack here right now, it's gonna be messy! .. But I'll take messy vs. the cold temps., any day of the week, right about now.

Not much else new going on, been working ungodly hours & stashing extra cash for new wheels, the '00 Camry needs a steering rack and another 500+ worth of drivetrain & suspension parts to be properly repaired, without labor.. I've just been taking it slow, and biding time until I decide on the replacement vehicle, then it will get parked until the weather is good here for me to properly repair. (Which will be August, given the current weather.) ..

Vehicle of choice at the moment is a good used AWD Ford Taurus - I've been missing the old Taurus, since we parted ways. Especially the AWD, travel to/from work during the storms hasn't been too fun these past few weeks. Really going to need a 4wd / AWD vehicle again, when working the night shift.

Well, it's lightly sn*wing (again) as I type this, so much for clean mountain living. :picard: Save me a piece of the Ground Hog, will 'ya JT ? :D

Gotta dash, lot's too do (while I'm still awake) - hope all are well & staying warm, have a great week !

    Kind Regards, Rob

Been nice the last couple of days. Even thought the temp hasn't gotten past 40, I'm down to just about 1 bag of pellets per day between both stoves. Getting some good solar gain so the P43 doesn't run during the day.

The next couple of days will bring lots of warm weather and meltage. Yesterday I parked the truck beside the driveway instead of in the tent garage as that area is already getting very muddy (it is in afternoon sun and downhill from back yard). Drove the car in to work today and should be able to drive it in the rest of the week. Really nice when I can go 4 days (nearly 400 miles) between fill ups and still only put in less than 12 gallons!

Earl, so sorry to read about your cat. We've all been there and it is not easy. Just gotta think of all the good years and memories.
iMacman, thank God (at least for now) NH is a Constitutional Carry state. I have had my concealed carry license since I came to NH because it gives me permission to carry in places I normally couldn't...like schools and town buildings. Not sure how long this will last because after the last elections, the government is now leaning left except for our Governor.
