You have to wonder if you are living in the right area of the country when you are happy it’s just going to be above 30.
26f this am. Going to 32f. Which feels a lot better than the below 0 stuff we’ve been dealing with so much. With forecasted 8-10 inches of snow and wind. Just got coffee made and stove relight with some oak and cherry mix. Definitely have had our share of snow this winter. With more forecasted next week. Not to worry though did the grocery shopping and beer run yesterday.
We got up to 38 yesterday. Started at 10 this am and currently it is 22 Should get to mid 30s. Nice and sunny put.
Some forecasts have us getting thunder storms tonight. Don't like all the wind but it happens in winter and spring. Only got down to 16 overnight.
It has been 9ºF here for the last several days according to wunderground: The old standby nearby airport NWS weather data point is OK though. They appear to have changed their map source or map type here as well. But out in my yard it is sunny and 45ºF. Snow is melting !! ( it's white - I'm calling it snow ) Stretching reloads of red maple as far as I can without it qualifying as a cold start, to keep it from getting too warm in here.
Yeah but, "In" those places it's 100º all summer long!!! Screw that!!! That gets old quick and you don't wanna do nothing! I'll take warm days and cool nights! Even though I'm near the shore here, you can't "Buy" a breeze in the summer.
Feels good here at 36 degrees. Had showers this morning. Rain had nowhere to go except my garage apparently.
Was nice here this morning, temp went to 40 with sun. Now 39 with a stiff damp East wind & clouds. Rain coming.
Agreed. Iowa has been on a cold streak for to long! Steady rain all morning. Still felt like sweatshirt weather on my grocery store run 34F now. Rain has just turned to snow now at 3:30. My load of 5 Pine blocks are idling along nicely. Keeping the place perfect for a bit of a nap!
We got to 45° today, no wind and beautiful sun. The melting snow is not soaking into the frozen ground, so it's pretty squishy in the yard. Squishier tomorrow, with freezing mix changing to rain. I worked on splitting the maple in the driveway, but after a week of inactivity, I've lost some mojo. I brought some more red maple in, to burn during these warm temps. Can probably get away with oak at night and in the morning.
With an understanding where we all chose to live, There's a reason why we stay! "My" personal thoughts here are beautiful springs and falls, but summers are just "way to hot" for me. I will be moving North even though I may get stiff and sore from my arthritis, I just can't deal with 95º+ heat all summer. It truly kicks my @$$! A few folks said something I always hear, It'll be nice to see spring! Isn't that what makes "where we all live worth it"!!! My Brother moved from Boston/outskerts to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. He called me once and said, (Quote)>>> What the Freak did I move to Florida for? He was 76 at the time and he sold everything and couldn't get back. I never forgot that!!!!!! "I" thank God if your a believer, that there is a reason we stay where we are and in your heart there's something that keeps you there. I have found that "this" is not where I want to be anymore. After 55+ years of being in the same town, Other than moving in the military, Peace is truly "NOT" in a neighborhood in my opinion. The country "is" life! The folks who have their little pieces of heaven, you have wealth you may not even see! Ok, story over. Dave has had enough to drink and dinner time!
Nice but sad story Chief, thx for sharing. Buddies, old unit groupies, former students and former work people living way south of Maine always ask " how can you take the cold and snow ? " "What do you do " ? ( Eat bon-bons and watch soaps all day ). When we hear and see floods, tornados, and deadly fires that we don't have much of here, there it is. Can't help but feel for them when homes and lives are destroyed. Cold and snow ? Easy to adapt to. One conversation over drinks here is what kind of long underwear you have: lightweight for skiing and runs, medium for the teens and cutting, and expedition for those azz chill days in the singles and below with wind. Yes we whine sometimes about cold and snow. Then we see what goes on with severe weather in other parts, and give thanks. Besides, who needs "senior early bird specials" ? Or traffic. Or gated communities. Florida: God's graveyard.
66 degrees high, rain, high winds. Flu ramping back up in this area. No fire in stove.so no cookin on stove.
