For all you Linux users...you may find this amusing.

Yesterday while was online doing banking/paying bills I grabbed to get the KB and sit it in my lap I fumbled the KB and wildly pawed the air to grab it before it hit the floor..

I saved the KB but within seconds this gravelly voice starts up whenever I move the mouse.

    OMG a virus :hair:

I shut the machine down and restarted....all quiet.

This morning I fire up at 0 dark thirty and the gremlin is back.

This time I listen to what it's saying more closely...

    Hmmmmm... ORCA universal access.

I have seen this somewhere ??????????????

Popped it into a search engine.

    Sweeeeeeeeeeet
    Sytem tools
    System Settings
Bottom right of the menu screen.
    UNIVERSAL ACCESS
Opened it and sure enough the toggle was in the ON position.

    Turned it off

    ARRRRRRRRRRRGH

Not knowing what keys had been pushed while trying to save the KB made it a real o_O

    All better now.

Adds to the idea of "If you don't know what it is DON'T TOUCH IT"

    Winding down..

The weather has moderated a little, so I decided to DEEEEEEEEEEEP CLEAN the big Whit.

It's been quite a while since I removed the draft fan and went after the innards with the WA WA BRUSH. (LOOONG AND SKINNY and sort of like a bottle brush) Gets in to the hard to reach places.

The draft fan was chuck butt full of ash too and the blade petals were nearly packed full of crud.

Deep cleaned, LBT....A new fan gasket and we are good to go..

I usually do the inner clean and fan removal after the season is over, but the beast was just needing some lovin....

    Burns like a new one...
I think I am going to get a high temp silicone gasket...the lytherm ones are a one time and that's it

I'm with you on the hi-temp silicone gasket.I have a piece, downstairs, for the Integra, but have not used the stove enough to warrant pulling the motor.Well, this winter has changed that, burned it a lot,and it will get a full service this summer, and the silicone gasket.Already experimented,EMT scissors cut it well, and, cheap leather hole punch works well.No factory size silicone gasket for old Integra.

The commercially cut silicone gaskets run anywhere from $10 each to as high as $23

It needs to be 1/8 thick and can tolerate 500 F

I may go on the hunt for a sheet of the stuff and make my own

I still have 2 Lytherm gaskets and can use one as a pattern.

Should not be hard to find the silicone sheet..... ????

Really hard to swallow using a new Lytherm gasket every time I clean that beast.

Plus ya have to spend 20 minutes scraping the old one off the fan pl;ate and the housing.... Messy too

I need to find a better cleaning brush that is flexible and could be run with my cordless drill.

Be sweet to stick it in the exhaust passage and turn it on and buzzzzzzz out all the crap that sticks to the passageway walls.

Very roughly constructed with loads of sharp ragged edges, hard 90 degree angles and such that are just ripe to cause poor air flow and collect crap.

Buttttttttttt, if they built the beasts to flow like a set of headers from a NASCAR engine we couldn't afford the stove.

My stove is a 1992 model and is in perfect mechanical shape, so I think I will just live with the issues.

    Except the gasket ......

*zon used to carry the stuff Snowy. My item from 2012 isn't in their system anymore but there are quite a few that are, you'll just have to search around in silicon gasket sheets. You will likely find what you need.

Well the boss went to hold court at her quilters workshop and told me to help myself to all of the leftover spaghetti sauce I wanted, seems the hot sausage was a little too spicy for her. Slurp....

I gave the stoves a light cleaning yesterday. I checked the P43's exhaust and it is whistle clean after running the previous Matras and the Vermont's. The last bag of VT's is in the hopper which is interesting only because I was at Lowes today and picked up 5 bags of Northern American Pellets. Will see what kind of heat and ash they produce.

No, I don't need pellets (still got over 1 tone), but saw them there, hadn't tried them, and they were $5.19/bag, so of course I had to pick some u to try.

And per the rules, I went downstairs and snapped a couple of pics real quick
