OSB is sorta frowned upon here because of moisture issues hard to get it covered fast enough.

    I understand completely.

My garage 24 X 38 was built completely in three normal work days by just 3 guys. Complete! Did not have to come back to "finish" anything.

Neighbors said they never saw three guys work so fast before. Total cost was well under 14K. That price did not include the slab.

    I did the interior.

You can see that the OSB was weather proof at the end of day one with the exception of the inside of the garage and no, it didn't rain overnight.

You just have to find the right builder!

Fog can wreck OSB pretty damm fast, there is just a bit of along the coast. It took 8 years for moisture to do in my chicken coop not that I really cared since I had already depopulated it. Hard lugging water with a cane and 24 hr a day dizzies on ice.

Eric VW .. rest of message didn't get attached. The real problem is vinyl siding only stops 90% of the water. Most common Builders will tell you of course house wrap takes care of the rest. Sounds logical Until you realize that house wrap is generally applied with a slap stapler. So what you're basically doing is putting up a wind \ water barrier and putting a million little holes in it:loco: :picard:

House wrap is a vertical sieve unless applied with glue.

Do you prefer house wrap or the ol’ tar paper?

The green membrane? They say it works great IF applied correctly and fastened correctly.. but nobody really knows how long it really will last. And what about the moisture inside that was just locked inside? Yes I know they remedy it with a ERV.. I just wonder if those brilliant engineers ever seen after math of kids in a bath...

I have to hobble out to the kitchen to boil a couple of spuds and an egg to go with tonight's haddock. The boss wants a spud salad. Was a bad Bear and scarfed down some lobster last night.

Now there was a house built that used the flooring grade OSB and it took months to get a roof over the whole dang house. Yeah, standing water on the deck (floors) for days/weeks at a time. Resulting in the homeowner playing the GC and but being out of state while it was going on.

Sub standard builders that enjoyed a summer on a lake with fishing/drinking more so than working. They eventually got fired but not before the house ended up with mold mildew issues. Another contractor stepped in and must have had a huge mitigation fee (at least I hope so) as the pace was a mess.

I think the owner actually tried to stiff the new contractor with non-payment for work; that just got settled in court.
The owner is a typical citidiot that knows so much more than everyone else!

Ever get the feeling that someone asks for advice/opinions and if they aren't on the same page as theirs, it is just another stupid idea to them?

Reminds me of someone else that was here...……
