Hey buzzsaw. Your in Ct. Do you do Facebook. Looks like a big supply of free black locust on FB marketplace. I’m not the best at id tho and never had any BL.
Dont do facebook. This is the extent of my social media! LOL!!! Been getting scores on craigs list. Im in North Haven and near tornado wood. Where are you? I think it is locust...not 100% sure. Cant say ive ever cut any. Plenty of oak, maple and ash for me.
Central Ct. Glastonbury Marlborough East Hampton line. Never had any BL myself. Bark looks right from what I’ve seen on this site but,,,,,,,,,,, I know nothing LOL. Oak and Black Birch reign supreme around here. Got tons of oak logs myself but might consider going for a drive if it is the big Kahuna. See what all the fuss is about
I honestly can say ive never cut black locust if that is what it is. I used to be able to get into the state's dumping area Wharton Brook by exit 13 off I-91 and take wood they dumped and recall seeing a lot like that. Never took any. They would dump stumps, chips, logs etc at random off dump trucks and it was tough to dig through and find any decent stuff. It was also muddy, dirty etc. Seems state workers knew good wood and id see it in the parking lot by the main building. Got kicked out by a state cop years back and the gate is locked now. Id go after hours/weekends.
If i was closer id come help. Havent cut in a few days and am jonesing. 3-4" crusty snow here limits me.
Found the personal post off marketplace. Posted Sunday. Lots of folks said they were going to get it. But we also had 13+ inches of snow that night. I’m looking at my trailer buried out there. Not sure if I could 4 wheel into it with out the plow. Than that wood is gonna be buried or gone. damm. A whole lotta work just to get on the road. Swore I was done for this year.
