I saw the first pair of orioles in the neighboorhood this morning, and a woodchuck.

I am hoping to try to stop at an antique tractor plow meet this morning for a look at some old iron and then my anvil is going to get a serious beating today.

They rotate through its his first year. He's 5 and hit with the coach pitching. Unfortunately with my work schedule I did not want to commit to coaching but I would never miss his first game.

They took the competition out of it. Everyone gets a hit and no outs. You just swap after everyone hits. Sorry if I offend anyone but that is not what sports are about and I am not a big sports fan.

Jet… I agree and would add, that's also not what life's about either. It's unbelievable that some grown adults actually think keeping kids from any type of loss or disappointment (don't want to hurt anyone's feeeeeeeelings), is good for them. I read a story a while back about a soccer league somewhere in the US… that doesn't use a ball !!! Coach said it was a little challenging at first, but they got used to it…:rolleyes: They prolly gave trophies to every player too, whether they play'd, won or stayed home…

There has never been a time in the US where good parents teaching their kids what really matters, was more important.

My kids will grow up knowing that second place means you were the first loser.

My ten year old and I both passed hunters safety today. I had a blast, who knew shooting a rifle and bow and clay pigeons could be so fun?!?! I'm not 100 percent sure I will be able to shoot a deer if given the opportunity but I am going to try for sure :)

It's been a while since I've hunted. I've shot 2 with a rifle and one with a bow. As I've grown older, I've become a softy. I don't even like "re-locating" red squirrels, even tho they do a lot of damage. It's true, deer are beautiful animals but, at the time I took them, all they were to me was unbelievably good meat. It's a lot of work to field dress a deer and get em out sometimes, but it's worth it, because of that premium meat… and a lot of it. Maybe if you think of the deer as premium meat, food for the family, and only that, you might really enjoy the whole hunting experience even more. It's a rewarding thing because of the many meals you'll enjoy.
