Yes I would expect you would have a high fire hazard where you live as well. Scary stuff. The last two summers have been particularly bad for us as well as many other regions.

Sean Same here seems to be getting worse. We had mud slides in the burn areas as well........ I sold 20 acres of land in Montana last fall in fear of the fire danger there, a fire 2 years ago burned to the edge it.

Funny that you say that ... We left the Northwoods this morning and it never got higher than - 5. Started out at - 15....we 'warmed up' by blackriver falls... I think it was 3. Home now ... It's a balmy 5. Burning 3 year old elm. Gets the job done

Wow thats close! The last two years we have had fires within 50 km of town which is the cut off for new house insurance policies. Many home purchases were in limbo until things improved.

25 now supposed to be down to 14 overnight. 73 inside with red elm, about 2 or 3 inches of new snow on the ground. Colder tomorrow night.
I really like this dead red elm I brought home yesterday, will be going back for the rest of it.

Just filled up on Elm. Super heavy compared to the Pine I've been running. Just got into this stash for the first time this year. Should be interesting. -6F Actual temp. -26F wind chill. A bit chilly. Again.
On another note. The sunshine is sticking around noticeably longer these days. Feels great :)

Now -8F. Now predicted to possibly set records tonight for lows! So nice!

As long as that sun stays behind the clouds and the temps are mild like that, you'll get more than a week!

Was a nice day for my Monday, came home with a load of birch. Good thing I am ahead for wood at work to bring home. One cut, chain looked loose, tensioner tab broke. Not realizing it’s Sunday for the rest of the world, quickly called the Stihl shop, he had one and would stay till I got there. While talking that’s when he mentioned it was Sunday and came into the shop to get me my part. Said it was he way of saying thank you for being a loyal customer. Part was $8 and that’s why I like buying local. EDF687F7-1F46-4641-A183-867B2701248A.png CC98BE5A-9214-4060-9B74-160C64DD3FFD.jpeg F4EBE5C7-831E-4A65-B646-58039B6C6AD5.jpeg

-21c/-6f right now. I raked the coals forward a few minutes ago in anticipation of an overnight load of larch. I had a great afternoon ice fishing today. Sun, no wind and the bite was on!

31° here, that crazy witch hazel had a warm day yesterday, but got faked out overnight. IMG_20190304_54152.jpg
Sun is supposed to come out later. I tarped some rounds in the driveway, so I'll have something to split, while I wait for it to melt.
Exactly. And I think the longer I make firewood, the longer I'll be able to make firewood.

A balmy 5° yesterday, -5° now. Spent part of yesterday claiming my curb again. Plows have been staying about 3' away plus the foot or so to the sidewalk. Moved about 16" of the packed crap (20'~). Talking warmer this weekend, maybe even 40°, we will see. Should have some nice melting if this all happens. Oak and ash in the stove plus NG furnace so house is toasty.

Supposed to be -4 by this morning. It's -11, and 68 inside.
I heard the furnace come on and fell back asleep for a bit. Loaded the stove a few minutes ago, and it's gettin' it's chooch on.
Coffee in hand, about to feed the pups, and a trip to the big city later rounds out the day.
