Have you ever cut wood for free just to use your saw and not received any of the wood? Thats one of my pet peeves as well...keeping wood and years later still untouched rotting away...enough to make a wood hoarder fume!
Nothing new. And not unique to wood/firewood. I messed with old cars for a too many years. Many a person with an old car won't part with it. They will claim that they are going to fix it up. 10 years later its still there but a little more rotted and in worse shape. I think alot of it is the get a feeling of superiority/power having something that others want and being able to deny it to them.
Use your noodle-----noodle = brain. On a side note I help make about 850,000 pounds of noodles a day. I work at a pasta factory. Jonesing----Back when I used to smoke and was at the DMV waiting for what seemed an eternity, I was jonsing for a smoke because it had been so long since I had one and smoking was not allowed inside the offices.
Curious monds want to know: Can you jones and noodle simultaneously ? Jonesing----Back when I used to smoke and was at the DMV waiting for what seemed an eternity, I was jonsing for a smoke because it had been so long since I had one and smoking was not allowed inside the offices. Excellent !!! You win nothing.
watching the video reminds me of a few years back. Acquired a large silver maple that i couldnt split by hand. Ended up cutting 12" rounds and used the saw to cut them to firewood size. My processing area was 4" deep with noodles i dispersed as i cut. I was amazed how well the noodles insulated the ground. Snow stayed on it as rest of yard it had melted.
There's always Urban Dictionary: noodling I suppose I should add a cautionary note to the above suggestion Nah
So I started splitting some of the elm today and....it was a lot easier than I expected. Yes there were some pieces that wouldn’t split, but I was able to get most of what I whacked. I only used a Husky 8lb maul. It was very cold today, so maybe that helped. Looking forward to getting out in the cole tomorrow night and finishing. Don’t let the elm scare you! Another plus - this was off a standing dead tree, I threw some splits in the fire and they lit right up!
Nice work Sean Easterly ! Elm is good firewood for the exact reason you stated. Years ago a big dead Elm bailed me out when I was almost out of firewood in February. Got me through till Spring, you'll find the strings on Elm are like built in kindling as well.
