Out cutting some standing dead maples around this big cherry, top on the bottom picture caught a vine and popped back. I ran a few steps but it clipped my arm ever so lightly. Good reminder for when I drop the big cherry though be safe and hoard on
We've got a ton of bittersweet and grapevine around here, thick enough to hang up an 80' to 90' poplar and swing the butt end backward. I like to cut all the vines headed up any trees I need to take and let them weather for at least a year if I can manage it. At that point there is a much higher probability they'll part as the tree falls and not cause it to change course too drastically.
i HATE cutting vine entangled trees. Felled a couple dead Eastern Red Cedars last month with the tops a major tangle of vines...major PITA! Be safe and hoard on
Yikes, glad it didn't get you any worse. Looks like there is still a hanger up to the left. How big is that cherry? Looks massive in the pic.
