Tooling home this afternoon, about a 1/4 mile from the house, this caught my eye.
I had an idea what it was because I’ve seen one once before in the tree line next to the house and had look it up.

I don’t usually stop to pick up road kill, but when I do...it’s worth sharing.
Really beautiful, from the chin down in this case.
It’s an Ermine in its winter coat.

A co-worker of mine has one living in her house. It moved in over the winter and now walks up to them for food...

Bad news is that she also has chickens...

Those things are hell on mice and rats. We had one living in the barn when I was a kid. Only one I've ever seen

    Cute little fella!
We were seeing a weasel at a job site this winter. Never saw a weasel before that. He might have been living under the job trailer. Saw it a few times per week. he was quick for sure!

The Hounds found these tracks in the snow the other day...5 toes = some kind of weasel, 2-3 inches across, must have been a very light animal as the tracks were in some powder on top of a very light crust, not breaking the crust at all. The Hounds were VERY interested in them I had a hard time getting a picture before they destroyed the track.

Funny to stumble onto this thread, as just the other night, while waiting for the fire to settle I was hopping from video to video on YouTube and somehow came onto this vid. I wasn’t sure what they were doing for a while.
    Warning, bunnies die...

I read an article not that long ago that said if the animals from the weasel family were larger that they would pretty much wipe the planet of all the other species.

I had ferrets as a pet as a teenager. They were very cool little pets. They were very, very smart and really liked to be around people and get attention.

I have a weasel/ermine that patrols my wood piles. Once in awhile I hear it chasing mice around in the piles.

Found a picture of the little fella. Curious little bugger came right up to me for a picture. I have seen him all brown in the summer as well. M2theB , the one you have seems to have a much longer tail than this one.

Definitely a ermine, all over around here. Cool little critter, rodents don’t stand a chance.
