I've already been through one door gasket replacement! And the plastic sill piece behind it too!
Yes, I'm thinking it is sugar maple, the bark is different from the red maple I picked up in MA. aviary-image-1551194216231.jpeg

Thanks! I'm still halfway hoping I get some dumped in my yard, but that kid wasn't very reliable last year either.

Well you called it, and like clock work it arrived. I don't know Molly, you got a lot of wood there, It may be time to consider adding another stove to help you burn it all:yes:

More sugar maple at the dump. Probably the load that the kid stiffed me on. IMG_20190227_44772.jpg
What I had to leave behind, too big to lift:

I did a little splitting too, the rounds I got yesterday. It's definitely a wood that you want to split when it's frozen. IMG_20190227_36430.jpg

You wound up with some short splits, but that's why you got them barrels for seasoning uglies. You got all bases covered girl! Actually even those shorts look beautiful and the wood looks solid throughout and I like the car pic too. Some heavy stuff there. Found a little old lady that had a tree come down Sunday, the city had cut up what was across the sidewalk, but the main body of the tree is still down in her yard. She said I could come back with a chainsaw whenever I wanted. This is what I could get in the car, had to leave some bigger pieces behind. ID help is appreciated as I'm new to this. liloldlady.jpg

Maybe red maple? Ask her, she might know. Nice that you can cut at will, will you try to bring home the whole thing? Maybe you can quarter the big chunks on site, so you can load them. Post more pics as you go!

I think Midwinter makes a pretty good guess with red maple Kris_S, though it could also be Sugar Maple. Either way great stuff and definitely get more if you can

413713A8-ACD9-4E0A-B0C4-7A2CE51FFA32.jpeg Day 2. Was able to get 11 good sized rounds in the car. It’s riding a little low in the back . There’s about 8’ of good tree left plus a couple rounds I left behind. Won’t be able to get back to that side of town til Monday, but I think it’ll still be there.

Beautiful stuff Kris_S! That's sugar maple for sure. Hope no-one messes with what's left behind. I'm getting mine from the town dump, so you never know.

Nice work Kris_S and Midwinter ! I think its great that both you guys got to fill your cars with rock maple and I'm actually really happy for you all and I'm not even jealous. Not even one bit! I'm really not and If you thought I was jealous you'd be wrong. Actually on a jealousy scale from 1 to 10 I'm like a zero right now so it's not even an issue.....I might have to move out of the city.
