I'm not sure what he weighs. I took this one last year and I thought he may have been 200-300 pounds but I am not a good guesser. All I know is to keep the trash locked up and run faster than the person with me.

Well at least he's not sitting on the porch.
Do they come around when you're out cooking on the grill?

They are out here too. A good sized one has taken up residence at a family home about two miles from me on the lake. The last few years we have had one on our road/on my property a few times. Don't like the changes we have experienced in fauna since my children were growing up. They were safe in the woods from the time they were tots, and were allowed to explore on their own. We had ground hogs, raccoons, porcupines, weasels, fox, and many varieties of birds, frogs and turtles, a few harmless snake species. We now have no ground hogs, no fox, many deer (and deer ticks), Canadian fisher, coyotes, wolves, turkeys, and black bears. And of course porcupines....I'm not sure I even want my grandchildren here.
Last summer my aunt, one property over, had a black bear standing on her walkway that runs around her home, looking in her kitchen window. She has a large greenhouse/solarium as the south room on her house. Not sure I'd be too comfortable with that with the bears....
I suspect that bear weighs a lot more than 200 pounds...a Newfie can weigh in at 150 and that looks a LOT heavier.

I'm glad we don't have bears. There's nothing in the woods around here (not counting meth lab tweekers) in the woods that can kill you.
