I would also add that I will not be driving off of plowed roads until we get some warm temps to drop the snow levels. It is getting hard on the trucks now driving around with the speed one needs to carry to get through all the drifts and spots where snowmobiles and other vehicles have made old tracks which fill up with blowing snow and then sometimes pack pretty hard.
26*-67*.....rock oak a cookin.....waitin on the snow to start....goin to pick up my spring gobbler mount this mornin....
6 and 76 on coals. Last cold day for a few leading up to the storm coming around midnight tonight through noon tomorrow. We’re looking at 5-6” with enough rain at the end to make it heavy. Then above freezing during the day for a few.
Just a little snow for us, starting around 8, changing to rain, then more rain Saturday night and Sunday. Should mostly wash away our snow, with temps in the 30's and 40's. Good, I have wood to move around, and maybe I'll get a chance at that second oak trunk.
Current temp -8°F heading up to 28°F today with 3"-6" snow expected this evening through the am. Stove getting things back up in the house, woke up to 62°
We might start with snow over the weekend, but it’s supposed to be mostly rain here too. I’m ready for the snow to go away but we’ve got well over a foot on the ground and half of it is ice so we’ll have another mess. My mother in law in Caribou has a daylight basement in the back and can’t see out of the windows anywhere in the house. It’s like living in a cave. They’v had about 130” so far and they’re running out of places to put it. You have to shovel your roof and most people can walk right onto it without a ladder or anything now. Getting it away from the house is the challenge. I hope they have a slow spring melt! They have layers of ice from a couple warm spells.
How much longer do you think your MIL will be able to make it in Caribou? Does she have a good support system?
7 here, and we've got about 5" of snow so I don't think mine will wash away with a couple or three more inches coming before the change over. It will make for a wet heavy mess, that's for sure. The coyotes tracked up the yard quite a bit in the recent snow from the other day. The bobcat comes through every few days, with his/her tracks.
70* in, 30* out..........Snow, sleet and rain in the forecast today with a high of 32. Many schools already closed for the day especially north and west of Philly, not a single flake has fell just yet. My daughter is happy she is off!!
Mid 30's and drizzling. Got the monthly boiler cleaning done this AM....took out 1 small bucket full of powdery ash from the bottom chamber. Put a few splits of oak on to last until this evening.
Still colder than normal, but probably warmest morning (or warmest temp over all) in 5-6 weeks or longer, depending what you think of wind. Poplar in the reactor.
Thinking we dodged a bullet with this storm. So far only got enough snow to say we got a skiff. Sun is shinning right now; just came out. Radar says storm is going north of us! I like that!
Darn Well Seasoned and I must be north of you as well as east Keep that freezing rain crap!! I'll take the snow.
