Most of the Kwik Trip gas stations here in western Wisconsin carry the e-free gas. It is labeled as recreational gas, for small engines and cost about 60 cents more than regular gas.

Were they adding lead also? While its bad for your health and the environment. It made old lifters last longer.

They probably did add the substitute. Actually the lead lubricated the valve/seat interface along with although to a lesser extent the guides. As far as the old flat lifters the anti scuffing additive most used was a form of zinc. That's been reduced or eliminated in "most" oils do to the coating of the catalist in the converter.

Around here, the kwik trips have e10 everything, some e85, no non ethanol gas, and an 88 octane that is e-15 for a few cents cheaper than the e10 regular 87. Now my only beef is that the sticker by the e15 88 it's that it says it's ok to use in all vehicles newer than like 2004. That's WRONG! I'd say most vehicles newer than the sticker says will be harmed by the e15. No motorcycles can use e15, but I'd hope that any motorcyclist knows not to use any more than e10.

When I prepay for gas there, they ask when I say "regular" if I want the 88 or the 87. I always tell them 87, and that most vehicles, even newer ones can't run their 88 as it will damage the engine.

I'm hoping that they get better educated about what they are selling.

    Now, if I get a coyote powered F-150, I'll be buying the 88 e-15 unless I buy the e-85.

Are yall spelling it right? Or is it a different station? In the bigger cities down here you have QT or Quick Trip stations.

Ahhh yes zddp.... Flat tappet engines need it, but most oils don't have it anymore. I swapped gt40p heads from a 5.0 explorer onto my 78 ski nautique's 351w to gain power, and not deal with the lead requirements that the original heads needed. Well, the original manual said it needed lead, but I really doubt it.

This is a Wisconsin based chain, but it's in Minnesota and Iowa too.

Have had someone tell me that temperature has an effect on gasoline when stored (lasts longer in cold than in heated space or vice versa?). I have no basis to back that up. I do know that there used to be notices on gas pumps here that guaranteed octane rating for only 30 days.
