Snow here. Guessers are saying 3"-5" by tomorrow morning. Going to be a lazy day here I think.

snow predicted for us but not much. Been watching the radar and most of it was breaking up about 50 miles from us. Now there is a band approaching that looks like it will get to us as it's only a couple miles away. Still not expecting much more than a light cover. Another one supposed to hit mid-week.

DST begins 3 weeks from today.

Yep. It's dumping here. I'm close to the lake where the 5" is predicted to fall.

I got up on the roof yesterday and cleared the minor buildup on the cap. I had a small window of time to do it, and the snow was melted away from the chimney only about a foot and a half. I had to borrow the neighbor's tall ladder to go up that way, but my usual method of getting on the roof wasn't an option due to the snow. I was getting puffs of smoke upon reloads if the wood wasn't all in coaling stage. There's your sign.....

The fire is so much easier to reload and the glass is super clean again.

I need to revamp my cap for next season, it's not optimal and it allows the condensing fumes to deposit. I'll also probably entirely insulate the SS liner from the flue, as it isn't right now except for right above the stove. I'll make a block off plate at the same time. Insulating the entire chimney/ liner will certainly help with the condensing issue too.

I also brought up a sled load of wood, mostly Siberian elm with some beech and sugar and norway maple.

I'm hesitant to bring too much wood up as it's the middle of February and winter will eventually let go, and we are to have our contractor start with a new roof, then new siding after that. My patio stack is right up next to the siding, so anything there when they start will have to be moved. The contractor wanted to start the roof in February, but that was said in December when our winter was not really much of a winter. I have over a face cord on the patio stack right now.

I saw a shadow of bird that flew by & had to check. YEAH, it IS a barn swallow!!! There's only a few, they are a couple weeks early this year. Maybe that means spring will be here sooner than later?

So once again I told my uncle to tell the guy who bought his car to come by after 6 for the wheels (I even offered to deliver them, he said he'd come by mom's place after 6) .....8:15 and still not here.......I'm getting the feeling he'll be another no show.....

uncle messaged me a few minutes ago to ask if he's been by yet, I said nope and asked if he had the guys address (would have threw them in the truck and dumped them on his doorstep to be rid of the headache) but he doesn't...... I told him they fit our car if buddy doesn't want them and that mom wants storage fees after tonight, (it's been 5-6 weeks)....uncle said he'll deal with him and that he has one more chance.

I have one evening a week that I have no chance of being called into work for, I don't need to be spending it sitting in mom's kitchen waiting on an unreliable stranger. I'd love to have this guy for a coworker, I'd be getting extra hours left right and center.....on that note I was called in early and to stay late today due to a no show. :)

Drop of the wheels at your uncle's house, let him deal with it?

Yeah, I hate unreliable people like that, unless of course they're coworkers and I get extra hours haha.

I have a buddy, he's a good guy overall but his one big flaw is he's one of those people that will say come on over, I'll be ready and you end up waiting 10, 20 minutes and sometimes over a half hour. Then sometimes I'll say I gotta take you home, go to bed for work tomorrow or whatnot, and he's like "aw, already??".....well we could have had extra time if I wasn't waiting.

I mean, if it's a 10 minute drive over but you need 40 mins, just tell me so I can do something useful for a half hour instead of sit in a truck waiting. I won't kill you for that lol.....I'm the opposite, most times if I say I might be 20 mins for instance, I'll end up being 10 or so.

My uncle has very low lung capacity and a 2 year old baby, in a small basement apartment with stairs as soon as you open the door, he'd just about kill himself trying to get them up and down over the stairs and they could be dangerous for the baby. Helping my uncle is no issue, it's the buyer that's the issue. A decent person would have got them within a few days after and kept the appointment or at least let us know in advance if they couldn't make it for some reason.....

I no what your saying. I have a friend that's a lot like yours. He is real good at saying he is going to stop buy in a hour and show up in three. and he is never ready when you go get him. After a while you learn to plan on it. :)

Exactly, some people you don't bother making plans with if you have other plans later on that evening. Mom's boyfriend has one too, One day he was reading a text from him, "said he be by in 35 mins, so that's an hour".

But, I guess everyone has their flaws, you overlook it if their good points make up for it. Now when my buddy agreed to pick me up from work for several nights, he was on time or literally just a few minutes later, so I guess if it's important he can make himself on time, but just to hang out and go for a drive......different story. Admittedly one of mine is I have less than average patience for waiting, so I'm the polar opposite of him in that regard.

But for a stranger to just be a total no show 2 appointments in a row......I'm not impressed.

Had the same issue with a friend. We learned that if we had to be some place at 2 we told him 1. We would be on time.

That's my philosophy with doctors too. Want to be seen at 12, make the appointment for 10
