B.Brown If your wife makes her own crust from scratch, does she make you pie crust cookies with the left over pie crust dough, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon?

ha,ha, it was the girl's favorite ''food'' oh yeah, that crust is great stuff. I have to add, one time she entered a county fair, pretty good sized one actually took home 13 ribbon's none any less than 3rd place. One was for a killer peach pie. The bad news, i had to walk by it every day it was there, with a slice missing for the judges to rip into for taste, and testing, lol. And, yes the peach pie took FIRST place!

Well B.Brown, how about a recipe?

I agree with Firewood Bandit that vanilla bean is the right way to go. Much better than plain old vanilla.

Never had pie crust cookies but they sound great! Wife is now on notice that we need some.

Backwoods Savage All she has to do is roll out the left over dough and cut it up, put them on a cookie sheet, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake until lightly browned. Makes a great appetizer for the real thing:thumbs:

    For 9" two crust pie:

    2 cups all purpose flour
    1 Tsp salt
2/3 cup plus 2 Tbsp. of shortening
    4-5 Tbsp. of water

Results will vary. There is a knack to it according to my wife, she tweeks this recipe
