we had an ordinance similar for sheds, xxx sq.ft on the ground. So we built a xxx sq ft foundation, cantilever floor joists 4 foot all the way around. Building dept/inspector just shook their head and walked away. We were legal.

I see square footage. 10 x 20 is 200. Doesn’t say a damm thing about cubic footage. 1/4 mile deep oughta do it.

Sometimes the enforcing of stupid ordinances are complaint driven. You said you keep it neat and its not an eye sore so if you have good neighbors I bet it won't be a problem. But I would hate to have it hanging over my head. Our city passed an ordinance that yard grass could not be over 3 inches tall. Crazy!!! My mother-in-law got her tape measure out and measured it right after I had mowed it and she said I needed to mow it again. What!!! :jaw: I like to keep my yard grass high so I don't have to water it so much. I told her if the city notified me, they could mow it themselves.

one of my former residences -sheds had a restriction on size, do not remember what was now but small- I had 2 shed on property one which was wiped out by a tornado/ straight line winds, 10x14 gandfathered in size wise Needed more room - no restriction on height ( small over sight on towns part) so I rebuilt it as a 2 story :D

    Big Brother is watching! :binoculars:

My stacks are visible from the road. A guy from the county tax office stopped by while I was working in the wood pile and told me I needed a state and county business license to sell firewood, and that I would have to pay sales and earnings tax on what I sold. I told him I don't sell wood, I only heat my house with it. He didn't buy it, said all that wood, about 10 cord, would rot before I could burn it all so I had to be selling it. I said: "Prove it Jack!"

For about 3 years running and about 3 times a year after that, the same fool each time, in a nondescript white 4 door would stop by and try his best to get me to sell him a load of firewood. I may have born yesterday but I wasn't born stupid yesterday! I guess they finely gave up on the game.

We have a ordinance on firewood being in the front of the house. I had piles of logs stacked up out front, code guys drove by frequently. Never said boo. I think a lot of it has to do with response to a complaint. I kept it neetish though.
