These are some of the things that made me move to the country.
By the time this area builds up to the point where that'll become an issue, I'll be compost.
    I hope.

It's nice where I am, because if I'm not hearing a chainsaw or a tractor, or a sled/4wheeler, something's wrong.
If I don't see a pile of logs in a yard every few miles......on a main road, there's something wrong.
When there aren't implements on the property somewhere, there's something wrong.
People up here use these things to live and survive, and they wouldn't put up with the township trying that.
I'm, so far, glad I live here.

That really sucks BJ! I'm sure it was a few that ruined it for the many. When I was looking for houses I ran across a few other areas around here with similar restrictions to firewood storage. I understand the reasoning for not wanting people to pile dead wood on there property, but to put a blanket restriction on something they obviously know very little about is extremely frustrating. I would def fight it if I were you.

Just saying this cause I dont want it to get political and I am not picking sides here....BUT that is what government does.

They force a "solution" on people for something none of them know a thing about.

I agree, if some one has a pile of firewood with rats living under it they should be dealt with as a individual .

"They force a "solution" on people for something none of them know a thing about."… yup, and most of the time, they could get more info on things before they impose new restrictions. They rarely do. I think these types of restrictions (firewood) are mostly the result of someone not liking the "looks" of it, more than any concern about rodents or rotten wood… but, they can't admit that, can they?

Well looks might very well be part of it but the article I read a few years ago stated there were rats in the wood.
My daughters MIL has a pile (not stacked) of firewood at their house and they said there were critters in the wood.

I used to work with a guy who have a very well kept yard with no junk, right at the property line a junk pile of motorcycle parts and old bikes started.
As some one else stated that's why I live in the country, I don't like people telling me what I can and can not have.

"Looks" will prolly never be the reason stated, most of the time, for an ordinance change these days. City and town leaders always will use reasons for changes, that are likely to be the least contested.

Another article about firewood in town (might have been the same article) talked about wood piles (not stacked) every where in the yard so they wanted the wood to be stacked or in a shed.

make friends with your next door neighbors and stack some on their property right next to the line! I dont blame you. I would be livid too. Is firewood hoarding, uh i mean stacking rampant around there?

    They are limiting "firewood" storage.
    How about logs for lumber?
Leave the some of the wood in say, 8ft length and tell them they are going to be made into lumber.
Keep rotating wood thru "log" storage into "firewood" storage.
