quick question, picture first! I got snow close to that line. Should I remove it or it is ok? the neighbor blow snow, from his driveway, on the side of my house, so the snow is very compacted. The heat from the stove will melt the snow for sure, that water could go inside the pipe?
I’d be concerned with the melt getting into what looks like stuccoed siding/foundation and refreezing.
yes it is stucco, i'm not very happy with my neighbor. I might try to remove some snow this Friday and take a picture tomorrow with the sunlight, already too dark now. I just don't really know how hard it will be, to remove / move the snow. The grass is like 3 feet wide between the house and driveway.
i'm not really in the mood of starting a fight with my neighbor i will do what i need to do and I hope he will see it and understand it ...
Oh the joy of idiot neighbors...I have had them and I am sure that some didn't think much of me as well. Could you put up a barrier/screen of plywood or stockade style fence about 6-8 feet high, maybe a foot away from the chimney? I think that would not be a fire hazard and it would keep it from getting buried and from getting whacked with snow and ice from the snow blower. Make the barrier removable...secure it with a couple of T posts or attach to a pallet with some angle bracing, then toss a few concrete blocks on the base to keep it in place. Just can't believe someone would actively pelt another person's house with a snow blower...going to ruin paint/siding/windows/your patience. Sorry for your situation.

I understand. Things are a bit different in the country where I am...I had a problem neighbor, a family from the city bought a house next to my farm, they didn't understand that I did not want them on my land 'that I wasn't using', a bunch of things happened and after a year I had enough...apparently parking a full manure wagon a few feet from the property line sent them a message, don't think you could get away with that stunt where you are.
I’m with you there! Remember last year for a week the quirky focus of pop culture was a word you’d hear and some people heard “yahni” and others heard “laurel”? There are 5 in our house and 40% heard yahni, the rest heard laurel. It really opened my thinking to how people’s perceptions are different. And I’ve tried to keep that in mind, especially if I know I’m getting into a discussion that could be contentious. The neighbor might not be considering his effects on Spirch and just needs to be enlightened. Alternatively, he just may be an adz whole.
I agree. The guy is probably an idiot and didn’t even think about anybody but himself. I think I’d have a polite conversation and if he doesn’t offer to help then he is an idiot and a horses behind!
One of the first conversations I had with my neighbor at our old house was "please don't blow your snow at my stone foundation. Water gets in when it melts." He apologized, we moved the snow together, and have had each other's back ever since. He was a great neighbor after that! Even now with that house being a rental property for me, and he still living next door, we help each other out - he'll get the front lawn sometimes, or blow snow for me if I don't get over there before people are leaving. I clean up both his driveways with the plow if I get there before he gets out, cut his grass if he's out of town or sick, etc. Sometimes people just do dumb chit without realizing it. Have a talk with the guy and see what happens before ya go off the rails.
Ask to see his snowblower....then look at him n show him how the shoot moves up n down...n again...up n down..
I have to agree with BigPapi Neighborly conversation about your concerns of your property with understanding he has little where else to move the snow and offer to blow/shovel your side of the house to keep it clear.
Let me take a guess here, and say that's the neighbors driveway and boat?....................Why can't he blow the snow into his own yard? You know.....the other direction.
Put sand down the gas tank of his vehichle! Anyone with any common sense and respect would NOT do such a thing as blow snow onto someone's house, chimney, etc. You can't talk to people like that and frankly you shouldn't even have to. You could even use his boat as a toilet!
snow should melt away from the warm chimney PDQ. The wall too if it is warm. I've purposefully banked snow against the foundation to act as insulation and the effort was fairly much a waste of time. By the next day there was a half to one inch gap between the wall and the banked snow. I really wouldn't worry about melting snow though, it can't be much different than rain. If he throws a stone though there could be some ( probably minor ) damage . Dunno what else you are supposed to do when they allow houses to be built that close to a property line. There doesn't even look like there is room there for a fence.
