I try not to eat coons if at all possible, skinned enought of them to know they carry a lot of worms and other nasties. If someone wants them I do save them some. Had a buddy that use to through the carcasses in his out door wood burner and they did smell like a good BBQ though. This year I only averaged about $19.00 on my coon and buy the time I paid the auction commission and processing fees it was only a bit over $15.00 mostly use to bow hunt but now with two little ones at home I don't have near the time to hunt. The bucks, bear, and pronghorn were all rifle kills. I haven't shot many deer with archery over 130" but usually averse raged 2-3 deer a year bow hunting.
I know what it is like being an outsider in the Carolina's, I lived in Greenville/Spartanburg for about 2 years. I worked with a guy that had a small farm and asked him if I could deer hunt on his place he said no only because he was afraid I would shoot one of his cows LOL! I grew up in cow country Wisconsin I knew the differance between cattle and deer.
Thanks I wouldn't go as far to say fantastic I just use to put a lot of hours in the field, being in the woods as much as possible is the best way to get the game. Having a good place to hunt has a lot to do with it also. Those two things are about the best advice I can give anyone.
Last fall during moose season I was doing some cutting on a property that seemed to be a popular spot for dum dum hunters. I saw a moose or two nearly everyday, several real nice ones. Running saws, equipment and they would come to see what was going on. Hunters camped out down the woods a bit and they are coming to me complaining my noise is scaring the moose away. Ah huh? I whip out the phone and start showing pics of moose all around the area. I swear they would have not spotted them even if the moose was stealing beers out of the cooler
I thought the same thing! That bear mount is absolutely amazing. I've seen quite a few but yours tops em all . Great to see you getting the kids so involved in it too. I'm having my first little one this summer i can only hope and pray that she loves to spend that much time with me in the woods. Great pics again man.
Awesome picture! I need you around my area to help get rid of the coon infestation! I killed 6 of them off my property this year and I now have 4-5 more at a time back on my trail cams.
