They do have the sensors, but it seems they are not always used. I tried 2 different apps to put the functionality of the camera and flashlight on my v40 like my Moto x 2014. I wasn't impressed with either so I removed them. I can use Google assistant to quickly get both by voice. But it's not what I'm accustomed to.

Well phone knocked off desk (my desk is 36" high) one too many times, glass screen shattered.

Editing to add. Called the only place in town that replaces glass, it is $13o. Guess shopping for new phone instead.

:( I have mine in a cover/case thing, and dropped it on one of the top corners a while back. The screen has hairline cracks now, but still functions. A shattered screen is different though.
Plan to get a new one?

I got a hairline crack on the bottom left a year or so ago and no problems, but this last drop last night looks like broken safety glass from a shower door or school building window. It is all intact and phone works, but lots of lippage and very distracting to read through.

So, it looks like Mick Jagger? :picard:
Looks like a nice phone (especially the price), but I'd have to ask one of the kids/Gkids for advice on new phones.

I went ahead and ordered it says delivery in 2 days, very cool :)
Hee Hee, not Mick Jagger, but like laying large marble floor tiles, and the they are not set correctly so some corners stick up and others are too deep kind of lippage :)

Side trip, we ended up laying marble in our master bath at old house, OMG never again. That polished stuff was more slippery than black ice when getting out of the shower or bath, throw rugs or not. Anyway the internet research I did on laying marble vs ceramic are different, and the lippage mistake was common with marble but not with ceramic.

Afraid I don't know how to and probably won't use most of the the features, just phone calls, text, email and camera. Even my pictures I use a cord to get them from my phone to my computer :BrianK:

My main draw to this phone is same bigger screen than other budget phones and the sale price

And Dave, I'll be sure to get a case/guard for this phone !

I've had a Kyocera E6560C Mil Spec for 3 years now. No extra case needed. Guaranteed to be drop proof from 10 feet and can be submersed in up to 30' of water. Toughest phone I've ever had. I have not been kind to it. Screen looks like new after 3 years and it never misses a beat. As far as I am concerned, Mil Spec is the only grade of phone I will buy. They are more money up front, but people spend the difference on all those xtra cases anyway. Battery life is awesome. I charge it up every 5-6 days. Of course, I don't pound the crap out of the keys 18 hours a day like a lot of people do though.

Well, if nothing else I was reading about radiation levels that the phones put out and Motorola did not have any phones in the top ten. So there's that! Chinese and HTC phones had the highest levels.

I've either been lucky or very diligent with my smartphones over the years. Have never cracked a screen. I don't buy cases for the phones either. I have friends who destroy their phones pretty regularly. I always have to get a new one due to lack of space, software problems or battery issues. I don't insure my phones. I also don't buy the expensive ones. :)

Uh, mine was $6, and the only one I've had.  Hey, it's called Stallion.....how could I NOT buy it?:picard:
Lot of good it did this drop, but I've had the phone for over 2 years w/o breakage (until recently).
Where do you get a Mil spec phone?

Of the regular phones, outside of yours, the onlyt one I know that is milspec is the LG v40. My wife and I have these. Now you do still need a case, but it's very slim and if you don't treat it like a wheel chock, it seems to be very well built. It didn't look any different than the other flagship phones.

wildwest , the Moto g6 is a great phone. You'll love the Moto gestures.

I have an iPhone, so do my kids. I like apple products. I never buy the new ones. I always buy them when there are 2 newer models just for price. THEY ARE NOT REAL TOUGH! I have never broken one but I did mash my daughter’s to bits on the kitchen table for lying to me. I think I am still stepping on microscopic shards of glass from that stunt. Got my point across.

Glad you are being a Parent, rather than a 'friend' to your children.

Got it at my local phone store where they sell numerous brands and models. Asked the young lad if they had anything virtually indestructible and he recommended it.

Well, if I pay for it, I am free to destruct it if I see fit - and if part of that reason is because someone else is misusing it, then so be it. I don't know if that happens to the case in this instance.

Me neither. I've not owned anything apple but have an iphone for work and really just don't get the fandom. Course people that go from Android to Apple may just have the same reaction. :D

I understand what you are saying. It’s what you get used to over the years. I have tried to use others’ android phones and get so frustrated. We should probably all just go back to the not smart phones.

I refuse to buy new phones from my carrier AT&T for retail price. They love to try and tell you "it's not so bad, you just pay it off little by little on your bill every month" uhhhh....yes....That is in fact how loans work. You still end up paying $700+ for a phone.

Anyway, I buy refurbished phones off ebay. A fraction of the price, and the current phone I'm on i've been using for over 2 years now. My last one lasted 2 years as well but I dropped it in the water one too many times on fishing outings. I am convinced they really do work just as well as brand new ones. A phone carrier will tell you "don't do that you never know what you're getting" but there are sellers on ebay who literally sell thousands of phones, with extremely high ratings and feedback. Many have guarantees as well.

Current phone is a Galaxy S7 Active, which was the latest model when I bought it. It was $350 on ebay. Now, over two years later, the same phone is down to $100 on ebay. I will buy another when this one craps out, because there really isn't anything better with the newer models that have since come out to justify spending a couple hundred more.

But the moral of the story is, buy refurbished. Make sure when you search them to type in your actual carrier and that the phone is "unlocked". Once you get it, just bring it to the carrier and have them activate it.
