I hope there are no wood poachers, is there a road up there? I see a stop sign. The sooner you get it home the better.

NICE! nothing like an old railroad bed to make a nice road!! Would be slick if there's a stump or 2 that you could hang a good sized block off of an yo yo the wood up on the railroad bed. I really enjoy doing that, helps to have a extra guy, grandson, brother, buddy ,to help, but, even if not possible its fun getting the big one's out to where you can cut them up. I've got a good block, some really nice lengths of cable , chokers, and chains to help make my wood cutting a little easier.

This is the reason why we hurry! One time, on the way into a scrounge, I rolled a round out to the edge of the road and instead of putting it into the truck then, I figured I'd pick it up on the way out since it was a larger sized one. On the way out, I met someone else that has an OWB and of course he had already scarfed up that very round! Yeah, I know the blame lies on myself, but damm those coyotes!

Absolutely not! A hydraulic splitter will greatly speed things up! You will not be sorry for getting one. I split by hand more years than most people have even lived that are here on the forum. I can attest to the fact that hydraulics will speed things up (and I used to enjoy splitting by hand).

This is a great way for you to get onto the 3 year plan.

No real need to worry about wood poachers, several people have asked mom for permission to get some wood, and she told them it was ok, but nobody wants to put any effort into getting it! Figured I will wait for a little warmer weather to really get after it, seams like nobody around this area like to get wood ahead of time!!!
