Just got back from a good morning with the saw. Pulled in and the mail carrier said that looks like work.....nahhhhh. Nice load of ash. Don't mind the mule load the wagon !!
I agree here, I do actually enjoy making wood and burning it. Plus its a by product of managing my woodlot, so I get an improved wood lot and heat. Plus I get exercise that helps me keep in shape. I should probably split all my wood with a maul, haul it out of the woods in a wheelbarrow and saw it up with a crosscut saw then I'd super buff. But there is such a thing as over doing it!!
If I get tired of css here, I won't be toting pellets either, fortunate to have natural gas here, of course I can't get warm like I do now.
I guess I was thinking wrong as usual LP? Thought they just parked the truck for the winter hooked straight to the stove?
Yessir. The big chunk at the right rear (bottom layer) there had to be rolled up onto the stump, and then kinda flip/rolled onto the tailgate...and even that was a big fat just barely! There were some other chunks I put a kerf in with the chainsaw, then split them in two with a couple wedges and the 8 lb Fiskars maul
Yeah, the big stuff was down and bucked already...but the small stuff needed cut yet...and some of those were hangers that needed to be dropped the rest of the way too. Also skidded (3) 8-10" DBH trees out to a landing area so I can cut them up later. This woods is just full of standing dead Ash...and a bunch of leaners...and a bunch already down! Ash grave yard!
I buy, restore and sell homes, haven't worked a day in the last ten years. Have 2 in process right now. Work by myself take about 6 months per home.
Is there a special today on pick up truck loads of ash I missed out on? Why am I always out of the loop???
