    But luckily it didnt.

I dont think I mentioned this to anyone, but I was just reminded of it when I put these jeans on. A few weeks back I was cleaning up the branches on a log with the saw before bucking it. Dont recall the course of events exactly, but the bar kicked, and the chain went across my knee, but somehow didnt touch my skin. SUPER lucky, and made me realize just how effin stupid I was for never once wearing the chaps that I bought a year ago.

I haven't cut once without them since though, and dont plan to again.

Glad you came away unscathed! Years ago I had a similar accident and the saw just kissed my right thigh through the jeans. Left a diagonal cut about 6" long and half a tooth deep. A little to the left and I may have hit something really important! Good that you are wearing the chaps now!

Glad you escaped without a scratch. I once had a similar event, but on my work boot. Went through the leather, mesh, and the inner lining if I recall. Didn't touch my wool sock, but I didn't touch a chainsaw for about 20 years after. Later in life I came to learn that Dad was perhaps a little overboard on taking down the rakers, and that might have contributed to such an unruly saw.:D

Had something similar about 4 or 5 years ago. Got out about 2 hrs before dark, in a hurry and the chaps were in the truck. Skinned right across my jeans about the same as yours. So far never again. Glad you made it without blood.

    I definitely got lucky.

Just today, I was thinking that the saw is in my truck, but the chaps are in my shed. Need to get a second pair for use away from home.

Glad you're ok, Mwalsh. Jeans are much neater to stitch than meat!

Those are the jeans I'd put on every time I was cutting. Not for luck though. It'd be a great reminder every time you see it.

    Glad your safe

Been there, done that. Likewise, no pain, but you better believe I bought (and mostly use) chaps since.

I've got a pair of double front Carhartts with the same design on them. Just took the first layer. Was limbing a tree I had felled as well. My big mistake, other than not wearing chaps, was moving while cutting. Worst part of it all is I've done the same thing to my chaps too. Glad you just hit cotton.
