I think with the low temps expected, along with the high winds, I will be putting the P43 in stove temp mode tonight. Not yet, but soon, or in the morning at the latest.

I know you have an older P61 but when I put the igniter in manual when in Stove mode on my P61, the distribution blower turns off. In Room temp with the igniter in manual the stove wont shut down.

With my stoves, if you put it in stove temp, but leave the igniter on auto, then the distribution blower doesn't turn off. That is what I do since I don't want the stove to try to get the room above 75* (the point where the blower shouldn't turn off).

I'll play with the stove in Stove Temp mode when it gets a bit colder. The way my house is laid out, to get the heat to the back, the hot air has to go from my family room, through the kitchen, down a hall, through my dining room into the hall that the two bedrooms and bathroom is. No matter how I set up fans, or manage the airflow, the family room gets uncomfortably hot. I do have my furnace set at 60 just in case.

The way the thing convects heat, even with the outside temp at 26, the stove is in Maintenance burn with no convection blower and the family room is 70. Waisting pellets or not, my room is warm!

99% of the time,my accentra is in room/auto.When really cold and windy, and I am home, then I use stove mode.On reg. cold,I use room/manual,just the maint. burn usually keeps house warm.

I have been known to use stove mode,no blower,in summer, when I only need a bit of heat,or just want a relaxing fire to watch.

I agree. If you put it in manual it will up to a certain temp, then it stays on no matter what.

I played around quite a bit during the cold temps. I let it rip wide open for an hour or so and it darned near cooked me out of the room. With the blower on high, the heat made it all the way to the end of the house. Today it's on Room Temp Auto. At night I flick it to manual and it just putt putts along until I get up. I am truly loving this thing. The hardest part for me is not having to tinker with it all day :D

Try leaving it in Room Temp for the evening as well....just for fun. I do agree with using stove mode when its very cold out though.

It was in Room temp auto last night and I'll do it agin tonight. Used way fewer pellets and the house was still warm in the morning. Heck, it was off most of the day today!

Ok.Because the weather has been nasty, and I had no desire to go outside, ran some experiments on my Accentra.Below zero and wind blowing.I normally run stove on t/stat,auto mode, except when temps drop, put on manual mode.Manual mode creates a lot of ash,and creates lots of ash on the heat exchangers, and, combustion manifold.Using stove mode, and watching the readouts on my harman stove DDM,in really cold, the combustion fan retains a higher speed(less buildup of ash in the stove).BUT,if you turn down the stove below #2 setting, combustion blower slows down, and ash builds up.Just my 2 cents worth.

Good to know. I've yet to lower the stove to #2. Last night in room temp auto it only cycled a couple of times. Very little pellet use. House was 65, right where I set it. I'm liking this!

Because I am used to the Baby and the constant maintenance it required, I decided to give the Accentra a quick cleaning during the last warm spell. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get more acquainted with the stove. Took me 15 minutes to remove the baffles and clean everything out. I removed the back panels to clean any dog fur out (there was plenty) and I noticed that the combustion blower's rear bearing sounded dry. (Stove was in Test mode) The bearing has the rubber shield and normally I would pop it out and lube the balls. Unfortunately the housing the bearing is in prevents that. I scoured the forum(s) and didn't see anything helpful. Harman advises to put a drop or two of oil on the shaft but I don't see where that will help lube a sealed bearing. Any ideas?

I'd still put a couple drops on it and run it. You'll still probably have a little seep into the bearing.

Don't remember Harman saying that about the combustion motor, but have been wrong before.Several different types of motors were used, but, with the 2 impellers(not including the one inside the firebox),and their guards almost impossible to do unless motor is removed and partially dissembled. Some of the older motors you can replace the bearings.

It certainly looks like the bearing can be removed but I'm guessing it wouldn't slide right off. I do have a small puller that would pull it off the shaft but maybe I should replace the motor and impeller before next winter instead. At least the room blower is new!

That is the newer replacement style, without the rear fan.Go ahead and put some oil on it.If you have a needle around,(diabetic needles work good),you can get under the seal and inject a bit of oil.
