    Our forecasters....

When I got up the forecast read a high of 23 today. The temperature at the time was 35.

And hour later they "fixed" it. They then said a high of 30. Temperature at that time was 33.

Now they changed again. Said a high of 33 with falling temperatures. I guess the 35 doesn't count...

Pretty much lost all of our snow. Hooray! Now we are bracing for possible ice.

61ºF today. Warmer to the north of me away from the coast.
Good day to clean the stove of ashes. Even wiped the window clean.

And refill the morning wood basket with some eastern white pine, awaiting some chill.

30F here with a wind from the NE (never a good thing). 1/10 to 1/4" of ice predicted overnight.:headbang:Test ran the genny & made sure I have plenty of fuel at the ready. Burning small loads of Oak in the boiler. Why can't it just freeze up & be Winter for a while so I can get stuff done?:hair:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Forecasting the weather appears to be the only job I know of that you can always screw up and somehow NOT get fired.

Hit 73f today. I think it is suppose to be 76 tomorrow.

Will load a small load tonight and open all the cold rooms up so I don't overheat us.

Expecting snow tomorrow so filled the garage today with wood. Today was up to about 37 with 10mph wind so it was pretty nice outside.

30s here. The three pieces of maple from the morning load kept it at 72 for 12 hours with 50* outside.. Running a few more pieces now to make it a little extra warm. Little one is feeling ill, so we'll keep it extra toasty for her overnight.

Love the versatility of the IS.. Warm out? Let the cat do the work on low all day with the glass black and stt at 350. Need real heat? Open it up and let the cat and secondaries work together. Life is good.

Need to check my gaskets and collar seam though - I get a creosote/smoke smell sometimes now when the stove does its light "whoof" of flame while running low.

scavenger , it's known as a top down or upside down fire. Works well in some stoves for faster draft & fire starting. I used to use that method in my old furnace for a cold start. Seemed to get a stronger draft going faster in warmish damp weather.

Some people start their fire using the top down method, I like starting mine half way up. They say soap stone needs to heat up slow. I think starting half way up slows the fire down a bit instead of having a full firebox full of wood on fire getting my stove up to temp.

It zero today and a nice day by standards. Cut some wood after work and was able to use my Logox that came yesterday. It’s a very robust tool, built tank tuff, with a made in the USA label. First impressions coming out of the box is quality built by Americans that care about quality. After using it today it is a really nice piece of kit. The additional length compared to log tongs, allows for almost no bending over for this 6’3” frame. I could also stand in one spot and move 4 rounds before I had to take a step. For the loading of the sled, I saved around 5-7 minutes of time. I am a believer in this product, I have no affectation just a satisfyed customer. To top of a good easy buying experience I was refunded $5.22 because the shipping was less than quoted. BigBlueLogOX is a sponsor and has a great product.

Safety tip of the day don’t forget your gloves at home. Thankfully the snow machine has heated grips. 62183E43-5604-4D24-A00E-C62076496334.jpeg 075538AC-9C97-44D7-9915-6501313AF4C9.jpeg C3EDA5B9-1021-4DCE-BB0A-95DD29200483.jpeg B761A81B-12AD-4F21-AD80-E5788689FA37.jpeg 9968E8D6-2BB7-487F-BB0C-46C80F5B5C1C.jpeg 96B7D5FA-4F50-40B6-907F-E5FB72242189.jpeg 760E1957-12AD-406A-8372-AAAB0300D03F.jpeg 5BD8DB88-0D90-411A-88DC-636ABEE6F778.jpeg 5B1A84F3-49D4-4E95-8260-716C32965E72.jpeg FE9B908F-C648-4F9A-97CB-00D7B796AECD.png
