    Another vote for boxelder based on the bark, color, and shape. Only way to confirm this is to smell it and verify that it smells like a wet gym sock.

    Need better pictures. It does sort of look like box elder but difficult to tell for sure.

    I thought box elder would show some red? I’m guessing Norway Maple. And a horribly twisted and knotty yard bird.

    I cut allot of Boxelder and have never seen the red people describe or what's on Google images.

    Looks like a whole bunch of chunks & uglies to me. I'd go with soft Maple from the pics.

    IF it is a yard tree and looking at the trunk with I would go with Norway maple based on the pics. Closer up pics would help

    I'll usually pass on big twisted chunks like that. Unless you really want a practically unstackable pile of uglies, or camp fire wood. Then again hoarders can't always be choosers!

    Looks like it could either be box elder or Norway maple. If it's box elder, I'd pass....but if it's Norway maple I'd be on it. Norway is great firewood,up there between red maple and hard maple.
