Don't know if any attempt at telling him how much heat you get from coals is worth the effort but, ya gottz to try, no?

99 lbs was one of those that as soon as there was room in the stove for wood, she would throw it in! House used to get unbearable hot....82-84! I think she is over that now as we have had an OWB for years and I take care of the basement kicker stove.

With the level of coals so high, I wonder what he was thinking while opening the door? Lucky none escaped!

Also....glad the furnace got the attention it needed!

9 degrees with a real feel of -11. 66 degree swing in less than a day. Weird weather!

43° here, but it feels warmer working in the sun. I've been moving wood, just finished getting one bay of the woodshed cleared out. Looking at what I've got left, it's about 2 cords, one cord in the basement, and one cord in the second bay of the shed. I usually burn three cords in a winter, so unless we get some serious cold, I'll have a lot left from what I was planning to burn. If we stay with highs in the 30°'s, I'll be lucky to empty the basement.
Still hoarding though! I'm doing a slow motion hoard from a big maple limb in a park that I pass on the way to my grandson's. Every time I go down there I take a chunk. IMG_20190204_18624.jpg

It sounds like this has been an ongoing problem with that room-mate. Hum... Time to make a change?

Wondering if you will have to move a big bunch of wood up by the boiler before the ground gets soft?

Done! Been keeping it well stocked. Should have enough to go into next winter. Just easier to do it a bit at a time rather than all at once.

NO! Just as you wouldn't dump a wife for poor burning practices, the same should go for a guy, no?

".....and then she threw me out because I kept feeding the wood stove...…." :picard:

Just keep working on him or tell him "hands off" the stove and we'll just pay higher heating bills! That'll spark his interest.

Better yet, sign him up here!

64° out there, and I was sweating in a t-shirt. All our snow is just about gone. Now it's too hot to split!
