I had just started to contact some tree services to offer out place for log dump. The first guy I talked to provided me with another guys number and said he is looking for places to get rid of wood. So have him a call . So since today is Sunny and 50* we took a drive. He has it scattered about but he does have a excavator and said he would load it for us. I am going to let Chaz do the specific.
Hey all Chazsbetterhalf did gooder on hitting this score Three large ash logs, and he said the pile was a mix of cherry and maple (non-specific) He is also planning on dropping a nice cherry in the next few weeks as well as some more maple. Said he'd use the excavator to load up whatever we want. He did try to sell me his new Kubota 2650 that he says he can't use as the hydrostatic hurts his ankle that's pinned. Nice guy, also says he'll have wood coming in all summer from the tree service. He will be dropping an oak for the city soon. He gave up drinking 36 years ago, but is a smoker, so some cigs are on the list as a thanks Co-worker has a 4 ton dump trailer, and said he'd be more than willing to help me out. So, we may not be ordering a triaxle of logs any time soon.
Don't want any of dem dare chimknee fahrs. It didn't phase me, I've got plenty of pine to process, with 3 or 4 more yet to fell. Funny though, the guy tells Chazsbetterhalf that he's got 40 cord to get rid of. Oh, and it's "seasoned" I don't think it's near that, but I didn't go back past the creek where he says he's got more. And I'm certain he's talking "face cord", but still.. free wood=good wood
Still over 10 cord...... If I were still burning full time, that's 2 years of firewood, and dang near free. Hard to beat that. Nice going Chazsbetterhalf and Chaz .
Cool Deal Chazsbetterhalf ! Only trees I could id in there was pine, only thing I have ever burned. Ever. Have an over seasoned pile of logs in the driveway that has not been "tended to" since we became so comfy with pellet stove. But it's there if we need it (power outage etc.) Good job on the phone call.
We won't be picking up right away as the ground os way too soft and where we will be stacking will be pretty wet. We have springs all over the place. Our yard slopes. Some more drainage is the future. This week weather won't be to bad. Wednesday rain/freezing and rain on Thursday. But after that a little of winter coming back.
Oh lawdy lawdy! One of the great things once you started hoarding wood it keeps coming from all directions, if you keep looking though.. preferable for free. Chazsbetterhalf and Chaz seems like theres quite a bit of work for you guys ahead. Edit: I love the sight of those rolling Hills.
