Blue skies and sunny. Hit 50* today so took a little bit of a field trip to check out some wood. Then when got home Chaz put the bar and chain on my saw and did a test run. Came in and said here is a short for the stove and out he went again.

32 here now and that's about how high it got today, they said high 30's but were wrong. Reloaded the porch wood boxes and came across 2 splits of Elm. So, after Midwinter 's post yesterday about my Elm, I'm burning them with some White Birch thinking of her.

About 40* Friday night, upper 40's yesterday and last night. Currently 54*. Brought a load of wood up from the backyard, but wheelbarrow sank 3" so will wait for later this week when it's back down to mid 20's or below. Took the chance yesterday to clean out the stove and soak the cat so it should be ready for the next round. Need to order a new cat and door gasket for next year.

Last Wednesday morning got down to -16*. Got up about 3am and house seemed cool, but did not think too much about it. Got up at 6am and the thermostat said 65*, not good since room-mate keeps it at 72*, wimp. Sure enough furnace down. Got an appointment for 1pm for that, loaded the stove and went to work. Stupid room-mate was home for the day so he took it upon himself to load the stove 3-4 TIMES before 2:30 when I got home. He had the stove so full of coals it would only fit 2-3 smaller splits in it. Took till 11pm to get them burned down. Anyway, house was still at 64* and furnace was back on line by 3:30. Gosh I HATE know-it all room-mates that just refuse to learn anything because they already know everything.

Made 45F here earlier. 42 now with fog & drizzle. Moved a couple totes of wood up to boiler area & did a few other chores. Supposed to be 50 tomorrow & then drop back down. Sloppy mess out now. Little Oak in the boiler.

Cut a truck full after work, is nice cutting at this temp, had two layers on they were to thick, was a little on the warm side with moderate tempo. As always makes my day when I can get into the woods. FDE1FA59-DBE3-4924-AD0C-1BD51DF420D4.png

Current temp 30°F heading into the 40s today. Gonna scrape the drive from the few inches of snow & a layer of ice ants take advantage of these temps melting everything a bit.

Mild temps are the flavor of the day with spruce keeping things warm. 21A47E4A-C29C-4626-B75E-23EEC68E4247.png 261CD00C-CD9D-4C3F-979E-AE8090BB39A7.png
