Haha, compared to the only other forum I've been a part of, this one is so active. It's great. I'm not much for social media. Never did Facebook or any of that until last week (literally) when we created a page for the farm. Check us out - we are still very much new to the game. Mount Kadam Forest Farm Facebook.

Here are a few more photos for everyone...

The day recently when I broke the unbreakable hickory handle on my favorite 8 lb maul and rather than put a new handle in I purchased a Fiskars 8 lber to replace it. The traditionalist in me is still a little sad...

I know it doesnt have the aesthetics of a hickory handle maul but you're gonna love that isocore. It is a great maul and from what I understand fiskars has an excellent warranty.

Welcome to both Woodsman and rek.

Warning, be cautious of the councilors here, they are really just a bunch of enablers.

I actually checked out the Facebook page last night. I don’t have Facebook, so I had my wife go to it. I was curious where the farm was located since I grew up in NW CT. I just googled the name of the farm, but the Facebook page was the only hit I got. Can you tell us where the farm is located or is it not really up and running for business yet. I didn’t see that info on the FB page. Again, welcome aboard.

You sound like me. I have basically nothing to do with typical social media. Only have a Facebook page because I occasionally do online sweepstakes because I'm up so early before work. Now I use it just to check in with my metal detecting group. As for YouTube, I only created a page to post a few chainsaw videos here and there. The firewood and chainsaw forums are different. There's topics and some kind of flow. You pick yout topics that you are familiar , topics where you want to learn, join in where like or just hang out and seen what's going on.

I'll tell you that FHC is my favorite forum and has some if the finest people on the face of the Earth! Many of the guys and gals here participate in one or 2 other related forums so you see thr same people around . It's a clean forum with everyone being helpful and supportive to the best if their abilities. The sense of humor here is also great! I hope you got everything that I just said because there's a test in a week, no multiple choice stuff just a small 10,000 word essay. Down the road is the vocabulary test with words ,phases or acronyms like "GTG", "smoke dragon" and stuff like that.

Awesome, I'm glad the page came up in a search. We are still in the start up phase of the farm business. Our website is under construction at the moment and will be up and running hopefully by the end of February. A friend of mine who designed the logo for the farm and my other business is designing and creating the website for me. She does awesome work. Though we do have product available now, the farm will be officially open for business in May. We're in Winchester just about in Norfolk. Where in NW CT did you grow up?

Cool to hear all that. Thanks for the info. Believe it or not, I grew up in Winsted. Graduated from Gilbert, class of 97. My grandparents were in Norfolk. I’ve still got family all over that part of the state. Did you grow up in that area? Awesome to have you on the site!

I think I killed the thread. I hate when that happens. It’s like when you enter a conversation and everybody looks at you and stops talking!

You didn’t kill it. It’s hard to keep up sometimes when you’re new to this forum- so much stuff to read! Besides, when you live in the greater Winsted area there is tons of stuff to do - and Winsted IS the gateway to Torrington!
Just kidding, I love it out here.
