Sweet looking rig. The tables will be a big help. I wish mine had the wedge on the end. Please report back with a review. That is a very nice unit. It looks like it would be easy to pull by hand as well.
I spit by hand, mostly with a monster maul for 35 years.....then I got old and purchased a hydraulic log splitter......and found out I had been an idiot for 35 years Enjoy!
Me too. I'm working on getting mine up on a waist high deck too, so the whole op is at that height. Looking forward to it. Not as much bending.
Very nice! You'll appreciate it all the more once you use it for a few hours, the splits pile up fast. One suggestion would to be to get a better tongue jack that cranks up/down. If you store it inside on a smooth surface a jockey wheel would be icing on the cake. It seems like northern makes a nice splitter but all the bolt on accesories like the wings, lift, table and tongue 'kickstand' are designed with a limited budget in mind
I found mine used thru Uncle Henry's. Half the cost of new, one year old, had split 2 cords of wood. They're out there.
- Hope your right about the splits piling up fast! - Good thought on the wheel. I picked up the tongue before I bought it and it's well balanced but still heavy (785 pounds). - Totally agree with the accessories comment. Going to need to make my own.
I missed this one Fan......3 years ago when the back wouldn't handle the monster maul anymore I bought the 22 ton Huskee and I'm with Chief, I was an idiot for not doing it sooner. Do you have everything but the oak kitchen table split yet ?
Gas, Should have done it years ago! Just like having a new toy... Still amazes me when going through the big uglies like butter..
Do you think you bought a big enough one? Just kiddin man. I love it. It looks like a frickin monster workhorse. Getting ready to bite the bullet myself. Soon.
