I've been looking for a lighter smaller cc pistol that still holds enough punch. I researched multiple models, but went with the Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm shield. It's a great gun with a great price and wonderful reviews. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...57781_757781_757781_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y
It came with 2 magazines. A 7 and an 8. I will carry with the 8. Cabelas had 1 mag left, a 7, so I picked that up too. A few guys pointed me to a great inside pants holster...... http://www.versacarry.com/ Rave reviews, and for 25 bucks and free shipping, I cant go wrong.
Just today, I sent an email to a local gun shop that had a nice Ruger .22 mag long barrel 6 shot for sale. I'd like to go in the other direction and trade my S&W 9mm for it. I don't carry but I've thought about it. I have a WWII German .25 semi-auto that my father took out of a prisoner's boot. I've had it all gone thru at another shop. It's at 100% now, but really isn't a very high quality pistol. While I'd be concerned about possibly losing it somehow (sentimental value), it's small enough to carry in a pocket. Most would prolly say it's too small for self defense. Can't hit much with it either, designed for about a 10 foot range.
My son carries the same gun, he likes it. I'm interested in the same shield but considering the .40. The price is right for compact carry. I also have a sig 2340 but the frame is larger, more of a police open carry style firearm.
Great choice. I have a full size M & P 9mm and really like it., but for concealed carry, the Shield is perfect.
I've never carried a pistol this light and comfortable before. It's no different that carrying a multi tool at work. Although a short barrel sights are around 5 3/4 to no problem hitting my mark on paper at around 15 yards. It has a great grip and feels good in the hand.
Nice pistol! Congrats on the purchase! Here are my two go to carry guns Disclaimer: I don't carry those rounds for self defense Used to be mine but it now has pink grips and my wife has claimed it as hers
Nice certified! Great carriers there........No sense in trying to get it back from the wife, she's packing now, lol.
UJ, what rounds do you use in your .380 when you carry? I have an older taurus pt58 that I used to carry , used some hydrashock for carry only.
You're right WS. Here's my .25 & original case that Dad found on a German officer during the Battle of the Bulge… works perfectly. Holds 4 rounds in the clip. Can't hit the broad side of a barn with it… but, I really like it just the same. I've often wondered if Dad hadn't pulled it off the guy, I might not be here.
Dont ever carry the take off gun your dad got!!! Plenty of saturday night specials here just like that for $80. You can buy a much more power full .380 that you can hit a man target at 50ft for like $250 new from several makers. You dont want to loose that pistol or put wear on it.
